i have always enjoyed this guy. its not a slam on paterno but he also doesn't forgive paterno either.  he takes a very interesting look at the joepas death and very interesting comparisions to other "icons"

this is EXACTLY how I feel! I will not mourn JoeP but rather the lost innocence of the victims.

But that mourning for the Paternos subconsciously shifts to mourning the innocence of the little boys that could have been saved had Paterno fought to protect them with as much vigilance as he used to protect his good name in the aftermath of the scandal.

That was an excellent perspective. Its hard to put into words how to feel (if you dont see it in balck and white), but this author did an excellent job.

Thank you for sharing.  It's a great article.  I had a discussion with a co-worker comparing this who scandal to what went on with MJ, and we didn't see eye to eye.  I kind of think it's similar...

Thanks so much for sharing this.  I've found it very difficult to express my own feelings about this.  I don't want to forget about what he didn't do and what he could have done.  Those young boys needed someone to step up.  But JoePa was human and humans are complex and flawed.  I hope that I am never faced with needing to act on something like this.
