Anyone work from home or telecommute?
We are expecting our first child in May and I would really love to find a job that allows a little more flexibility than I have now. Does anyone have a job that allows them to work from home or telecommute even a few days per week? I have a Masters in Business Administration but am willing to take a paycut at this point and just looking for examples/ideas. TIA!

This question gets asked a lot on here. I used to work from home. I liked the flexibility, and to be able to get a load of laundry done, or grocery shopping done when there isn't a crowd. However, in my experience, something is going to have to give. And if you think that you can work from home, and take care of a baby, it's not going to happen. If you try to do both, I can guarantee you will have to choose what takes first priority, your child or your job, and sometimes the job is going to have to take first priority. I'm just being honest.
Good companies that have work at home programs are going to ask for proof that you are putting your child in some kind of day care program, and that you aren't using their work from home program to save money and have free day care.
The SAHM board on The Bump has an FAQ that addresses this.
A lot of people transition from their in-office jobs to a WAH position. Is this an option for you? Thats what I did.

Have you considered working as a Project Manager, maybe on the ops/business side? I worked as an Operations Project Manager and was able to telecommute.
I WAH 100% and have a nanny who cares for my kids during work hours. My company actually hires a lot of MBA's though they typically don't let people WAH in their first year unless they are very senior.
Is your jobs something you could do from home? IF so I'd look at companies that have a good track record of supporting telecommuting. Companies like Capitol One come to mind.
