Disgusting floors!

Ok, so we have really worn wood floors that were under shittty carpet. Well, I assumed all these years that our floors looked gross because the finish was off parts of it. Like, I would mopit, and it would still look nasty.

Well, I drank a few cups of coffe and decided to hand scrub them.

you mop! You were worthless all these years! Seriously, The amount of filthy water was alarming, and embarrassing.

Lesson - hand wash your floors. A mop or swiffer just pushes the dirt around. End of lesson.

Re: Disgusting floors!

  • Woah, wait a second nest, you deleted my fake curse words from my post? I can't write f v c k anymore?
  • Sounds like a lot of work. I don't know why, but any time I clean something and there is nasty water left or it is way dirtier than I imagined, it is weirdly satisfying. I'm not sure what that says about me. :)
  • Yep.  I have to hand wash my hard wood floors to get them clean.  Use vinegar, a little bit of oil, water and some essential smell good oils makes them sparkle!

I loath washing our ceramic tile floors.  Like hate it.

What kind of oil do you use?  And how much vinegar?  I've been trying to find a good way to clean my floors and nothing has worked well.  I'm willing to try anything at this point.

  • Oh great.  I always just sweep ours and use Murphy's on them a couple times a year (used to be monthly but then I had a kid!).  I'm sure they are beyond filthy.

I need your recipe too Steph.  Time to get cleaning.....

  • I use Bona to clean mine then use their polish, you can get it at costco or bed, bath, beyond. I really don't like using white vinegar on my floors anymore after the research I have been doing on it since it's technically not natural and it doesn't seem to get them clean. Plus my entire house is wood floors so hand scrubbing them is not an option.
