Hi everyone I haven't been on here in awhile things got crazy in the last month of the pregnancy!
Baby boy Marcus was born on 1/16/12 at 10:26 PM 7#9oz 19.75in of pure cute! Big brother Connor is totally smitten and doing really really well.
We had another fantastic med free and quick labor! I attribute it to my hypno practice again, positive attitude, yoga practice, amazing doula and not to mention my incredible husband!!
I didn't sleep well Sunday night so I knew that I needed to probably take a half day Monday. I was having a few contractions here and there but nothing worthwhile. I went to work hammered out my last items and then told the guys I was going home at 1. I came home by 130 and decided to sleep. I was able to sleep for about an hour but was still restless. I then decided to get the house completely ready by doing every single bit of laundry, running a half empty dishwasher and wiping down every surface. By 300 I was starting to get a little more crampy but still only about 20 min. I called DH and told him to make his way to pick up DS at daycare and come home. DH was home by about 500 and then active labor really kicked in. Contractions were about 7-9 minutes apart, but tolerable. We all had dinner, played cars with DS, did bathtime, books and bed. Then I got in the tub around 700. I had about 5 contractions while I was in the tub and when I got out I called my doula and told her to make her way up since the weather was so bad. Contractions really picked up and were consistently 5 minutes apart and starting to perk in intensity. Our doula arrived around 830 and we worked through a few contractions and then I had a really big one and decided it was time to go.
We got to the hospital at 9:15 and checked into the room by 9:30. I got comfortable then had to get on the monitors for the 20 minute baseline. Well my BP was pretty high for the first reading so we had to sit a little longer. The contractions were really getting intense so I knew I needed to go to the bathroom to help baby descend. I told the nurse that I was done and needed to pee. I went to sit on the toilet, went to the bathroom, then had a huge contraction to where my water broke. WOW. Then I got a good three minute rest just sitting there. I had another contraction and was immediately feeling pushy. Afterward my husband and doula picked me up and helped me get on the bed. I was on all fours and with the next contraction there was a doctor in the room telling me to roll over. I rolled over and next I knew, my baby boy was on my chest! I "pushed" once. Baby got 9/9 on his apgars and started nursing immediately. My placenta came out on it's own just two minutes later and we were done!!
For the record, I was at 5cm 90% and baby was -1 when I got checked. Just 37 minutes later baby was out.
My doctor didn't even make it in, they just ran and got the doctor in the room next door. Baby was crowning when I got off the toilet, and head was out when he got in the room.
It was an incredible birth and a week later I'm still amazed and floored. It was so surreal but empowering all over again. There was never a moment where I doubted my body or baby's ability to birth! Marcus is a wonderful baby, nursing champion and we're all just so in love!
I know I don't post on here often, but I appreciate all the good thoughts that you sent my family's way for this pregnancy and birth. You are an amazing group of women!!
