Joffe for Lasik Surgery - reviews?
Has anyone used Joffe for Lasik surgery? I posted a little while back on this for general recs, but I see that Joffe has a livingsocial deal going right now. Has anyone used them specifically? If so, what was your experience? Would you recommend them?
Re: Joffe for Lasik Surgery - reviews?
My husband had his Lasik done there back when Dr. Whiting was there. He loved it, but I think he was more excited about the doc than the clinic. Many of my former co-workers went there as well because we had a major part in the clinic getting completed and they offered it to us at a discount.
DH's vision went from barely being able to make out the big "E" at the top of the eye chart to 20/15. Needless to say, he's a happy camper with the results!
Thanks witty! I'm at the point where I'm guess at the E. I'd be screwed if they changed it up on me.

I went for a consultation there, but decided on a different clinic for surgery.
One hint on the "deals" for lasik ... it's not really going to be 50% off, unless you need only a little correction. Very few people are eligible for the $495 per eye price, for the majority of people, it's $1295 per eye. It's still a $250 discount to get the coupon deal, but not necessarily 50% off.
I was kind of middle-of-the road as far as correction (I was at a diopter of -2.00 in one eye and -1.75 on the other, or 20/80 and 20/70), and I was quoted $1295 per eye at Joffe. I think you need to be at -0.50 (20/30) or better for the $495 price.
I highly recommend lasik, though. Best money I've ever spent!

It looks like you can get two deals (one for each eye), so it would be $500 for $1000 worth of "Joffe money." My regular eye doctor said I would likely be a decent candidate for lasik, but I haven't had the consultation yet. I hate to shell out all the money for the deal and then not qualify at all.
decisions, decisions.
I bought their last deal to use on my enhancement (I did my original Lasik too early as my script was still changing, but was pig nosed and went through with it anyways.) Joffe told me that if I had not qualified for an enhancement, Living Social was supposed to refund my money. Check or ask the FAQ on Living Social - I think they did mention "if not a candidate then get money back" etc.
I have had great experiences the two times I went. H got his done there, along with my sister, aunt and two uncles. We have all had great results.
Although, even if you decide to go somewhere else, I'd highly recommend the Lasik in general. I agree with PP - best money I ever spent!
I was only considering the coupon because Joffe had been recommended to me by someone else (I wasn't thinking of going with them just because of the coupon). I'm holding off on it for teeny a bit longer. Maybe I just need to work up the courage to let someone cut my eye!
Thanks for you help ladies! You're always a crowdsource of reason for me.
It's not that bad, really. I won't say it's the most fun experience of my life, but the bad part only lasts a few seconds. It's not really painful per se, there's just pressure on your eye for a little bit. The entire procedure for both eyes was only a few minutes. It's a few minutes of being uncomfortable, but the end result is so worth it!
I also have to say it's a little weird that two people who have never posted before came on here to post negative reviews of Joffe. How did that happen?
