Okay, after living here for 6 months, its time to get my act in gear healthwise for both me and my husband. I am looking for your recommendations for physicians, dentists, and gynos. I am up North (35 and Wells Branch) so something up this way would be great. Thanks in advance!
Re: Recommendations
Mine aren't super close to where you are, but I'll throw them out anyway. And I added spaces in their names so that I won't come up in their Google alerts
Dentist - Nort hwest Hil ls Sm iles. It might be a hike for you down to 360 but they're really nice
OB/GYN - I see one of the midwives at OBG YN No rth, Li sa Carl ile. She's fantastic and I really like her. It's a practice of 5 midwives and 2 doctors - they're more natural birth leaning, and although I'm not at that point in my life it's something I'm interested in once I get there. They deliver at the St. Dav id's N A M C, which I've heard is a really nice facility for labor and delivery or surgery.
I haven't been yet, but Dr. War field at Dom inion Health care on McNeil/Parmer has been recommended to me by a few different people. I probably should make an appointment for a physical with her...
My primary care practitioner is Dr. Derrick Garcia at the Far West Austin Regional Clinic. A lot of people write off ARC and think they don't get good care, but he's really a nice doctor and took the time at my first appointment to get to know me and my health history and any time I need to see him, I can get in within a few days. Also, I've never waited there longer than maybe 15 min if I had an appointment and ARC does walkins on the evenings and weekends (you'd see whoever random MD you got assigned to then, but they have all of your records together).
My OBGYN is Dr. Sally Grogono at the OBGYN Group of Austin - http://www.obgyngroupofaustin.com/doctors/Grogono.php She is so personable and nice and also took time to get to know my health history. She works next to Seton Medical Center Hospital in the tower next door. Also, they've just made all of their paperwork online so it's easy to just go in for your appointment and update changes before checkups. I know she delivers at Seton Medical Center but I'm not sure where else. I've known a lot of people who've delivered there and have really liked it.
As far as dentists...still looking for a good one, so no recommendations from me on that. I also know a great dermatologist and allergist if you need those names - let me know. Good luck getting set up, I know that can be hard.
I go to the same OBGYN practice. I think there are only 3 midwives though. Either way, if you get pregnant, you see everyone in the office at least once so by the time you go in to labor you will know the person delivering your baby, which I think is awesome.
For PCP, I use Dan R. Baker on Chisholm Trl in Round Rock. My dentist is still way south so I won't recommend her unless you need me too.
TTC #1 since February 2011
BFP #1 1/14/12 EDD 9/24/12 m/c at 8w4d on 2/20/12
March 2012- Dx with PCOS, started metformin
July 2012- SA completely normal
My OB/GYN is also Sally Grogono! Love, love, love her. I delivered my 4 year old, and 1 year old twins at Seton, but unfortunately, I didn't have her either time. The other guys that delivered me were great too. Very pleased with them and Seton. I was on hospital bedrest for weeks, and most of the nurses were very nice and knowledgable. Plus, since all 3 of my girls were preemies, I always make sure to tell people to deliver at a hospital that has a Level 3 NICU...just in case.
