So I guess the rescue had someone approved last week but they didn't think she was going to take both of the available dachshund puppies. Well, she is I'm happy for the puppies but sad for us.

Aw, bummer! There will be other pups though! Maybe yours are coming soon and these just weren't them ;-)

i'm from indy too, and i see that there are several baby dachshund puppies on pet finder. often if a rescue has already done a home visit, but they don't have the dogs you want, they will at least recommend you to another rescue.

if you want to go that route.

Sorry you aren't getting the puppy you hoped for. I know it's tough. we had to wait several months before we could find a doberman puppy, ended up getting a "doberman mix" and it turned out he was an Australian  Kelpie the whole time.

Sorry you aren't getting the puppy you hoped for. I know it's tough. we had to wait several months before we could find a doberman puppy, ended up getting a "doberman mix" and it turned out he was an Australian  Kelpie the whole time.

How is Doby doing?  People are forever telling us Cal is a Dobe mix.  This weekend two people stopped us on walks and said, "what kind of dog is that?!"  I said, "he's a greyhound," looking at Nite.  And they were all, "no no...that one."  "He's a Kelpie."  "A what?!"

I am a firm believer though in that our perfect dog finds us at just the right time.  That is how Renzo came into our lives.  The day I found him on his rescue's website I hadn't been thinking about dogs at ALL but something compelled me to open the site and VOILA!  There he was.  And now he is stuck in our hearts forever and ever.

It will happen and when it does it will all make sense because you'll end up with the perfect dog for you!!!  :-)

I agree with everyone else, I'm sorry it didn't work out but I'm sure you'll find the pup that's perfect for your family soon.

Thanks everyone. I had emailed the rescue on Saturday before turning in our application and they said they were still available. I had told my kids already too Oh well, onto the next search.

Doby is good! he loved the snow we had here the other day, but does NOT like the rain from today. he's such a baby about rain.

sometimes I just let people think he's a doberman, mostly b/c he's so incredibly friendly. and i like for people to think nice things about dobe's bc i hate breed discrimination.

How is cal and his ear? and how is nite doing? hope he's still loving having a forever home with you!!!
