I have a very-community-active type friend, J, whose friend's baby has had cancer basically his whole life (he's 2 1/2). She would like to put together a surprise for the family this Valentine's Day... to have a GIANT box of handmade valentines for them.

She'd like to put one group in charge of Mom, one for Dad, and one for the baby. I told her I thought I might know a few people who could help out with making cards for mom (anything-- religious, funny, mom inspirational, caretaker inspirational, bawdy, etc.). They can be made by grownups or kids. Fabulous or simple.

We could possibly even have a crafty day at my office (or crafty night) if enough people were interested-- or my office could serve as a dropoff point. I will be happy to bring supplies for everyone.

What do we think? Could we make this happen?

I would love, love, love to help. Unfortunately the chances of me being able to make it to a crafty event are pretty slim.

And making it without a small child would be impossible.

I'd also love to contribute! Making a gtg would be hit or miss for me, but if dropping off or mailing a finished valentine is an option, I'm definitely in!

Yes, absolutely. I don't know either if I can make a GTG (although I'd love to if the timing is right), so keep us posted on that....but yes, Charlotte and I can certainly make valentines! Actually, I can make it a meetup for my moms' group and have the moms and their kiddos make valentines, too

This is awesome, I have received wonderful feedback from a lot of people... I will make both of my offices drop-off points and post a mailing address. We need to nail down a few things, but I hope to post a blog tomorrow with details.
