Hey ladies
I use Frontline Blue on Apollo every month. My area has an outbreak of fleas, and it gets most of them off of him, and I treat the house at the same time. But by the end of the month, I'm pickin one or two off of him, and going rounds again. It's better than it was, but I'm not sure if there's a better one I should be using? (My vet does suggest frontline) He also gets bathed with flea shampoo about mid month, which seems to give a boost almost to the battle.
If not, is there a deal anyone knows of? I partially think if I'm paying $10 a month, it should be doing more, but we're talking without it, he's itching constantly, with it, it's occasional, and I only know theres fleas because I literally will pick 'em off and drown em.
I have gone so far as to move furniture to ensure treating the entire house. Beds have vinyl covers (in case LO sleeps in em or pup has an accident) so they shouldn't be stuck in there.
Re: Frontline?
I don't know anything about frontline. We have Trifexis for our Husky and I love it! It's heartworm, flea and tick and works very well.
We live in Texas and its really NASTY in these parts. Kali has never had a flea or tick problem since she was put on it!
hth!
I've never heard of Frontline Blue, but I know that some people are starting to report a decreased effectiveness from Frontline. It was a concern for me in choosing a flea-killing preventative (were using Sentinel, but that just halts the lifecycle, and Zoey was still picking up too many for my liking). The K9 Advantix II is comparably priced, and it repels/kills mosquitos as well (big plus for us in summer, when I can't walk out the door without being attacked).
If it's not working as wel as you'd like, I'd try something else. You might also want to try giving the flea bath a couple of days before the end of the month. I know the flea shampoo we have helps prevent them for up to a week, so that might extend your window of finding them a few days before you give him his next dose of the Frontline. Just make sure you don't bathe within a couple of days before/after applying, or it won't be as effective.

Sorry, I could have been more specific, I have been using the term blue for google search so it narrowed down, blue just being the weight category
I did notice that Advantix is comparable price (except there's one extra dose in the package for a similar price, thus being a hair cheaper). I have been giving him a bath the day before application...so that could be part of it. He usually gets 2-3 per month.
Which flea shampoo are you using? I have actually been using a bottle leftover from when we had a cat. LOL. It works fine for him, but should be gone soon.

You're bathing WAY too often!! If you read your Frontline, it actually says NOT to apply within 2 days before/after a bath. Your dog's poor skin is going to get so dried out if you keep bathing that often! You're just stripping all the natural oils from his coat.
So, stop trying so hard! LOL! If you feel the need to bathe, bathe him a full week BEFORE you're going to put a new application of Frontline/whatever you use on your dog. It gives the flea shampoo time to do it's thing and then doesn't interfere with the medication application.
I honestly don't know what brand of flea shampoo I have. I picked it up at PetSmart over the summer when Zoey kept picking up fleas from the neighbor's dog (joy!). It's nothing super-pricey or special, but it seems to work. Honestly, just bathing in Dawn will kill fleas on your pup, too, it just doesn't have the extended flea-killing that a flea shampoo does.

There are plenty of great products out there for you to try. Most of them have reports of resistance in some area of the country.
There are several forms of topical medication out there for you to choose from
Advantage (or advantage multi which also does heartworms)
Advantix (advantage plus tick prevention)
Revolution (also does heartworms, but not my favorite product for dogs)
Frontline
Trifexis ( I have had noticed people having problems applying this product)
There is a newer product out call Comfortis. It is a pill product that I have been very impressed with. There is no greasy spot on the coat from application and you don't have to worry about timing your baths around giving the medication.
::there is also another pill form of prevention called Program but find it to be quite a weak product especially for the infestation you are describing so I would really avoid it::
