Moms/Moms to be

Did you get a lot of headaches while you were/are pregnant???

I'm getting them constantly & the tylenol with a little caffeine that the OB told me to take just doesn't seem to be doing much.  I'm at a loss.  Today I kind of feel human again, but I can tell the headache is still very, very dull, but there in the back of my neck/head just waiting to flair up again.

ouch.

Re: Moms/Moms to be

  • Yes! I had terrible ones right after my BFP, but it was also when we were moving and the movers had packed up my Keurig, and we lived in the middle of nowhere so I wasn't going out to pick up a cup of joe, so I was going through caffeine withdrawal I think. At 7 weeks I got a huge migraine. I've always had migraines, so much so I was on Topomax as a preventative for a while and weened off 4 months before TTC. I finally broke down and took Tylenol, after I puked, if it's a really bad migraine, I throw up. Combined with m/s it was terrible. I got a second one yesterday. I tried everything to make it go away on its own, but it never did, I finally took the Tylenol, and thought about having a little coffee with it. My doctor okayed Tylenol and caffeine to treat, but then again the list says not to take meds before 13 weeks...

ETA: wanted to add, maybe try some cold compresses on your head/neck or the rice filled sock thing (a tube sock filled with rice and heated in the microwave) and see if any of that seems to help?

  • I've been getting them more this pregnancythan my last. I think it could be more child related than anything though lol. I'm so sorry you're going through this! Maybe have a hot bath and relax, and make sure you're getting lots of sleep and drinking enough water. I hope they end for you soon!

  • Go to the chiropractor and get a massage. I had so much family stress that I had a permanent headache-it sounds like yours is stemming from your neck which is where you are holding your stress. They can help you relieve that :)

My chiropractor has done miracles for my headache frequency.

  • Mine were terrible until about 20 weeks. Now they come and go, but aren't daily. Tylenol didn't work for me either, and I was too chicken to try caffeine (I know it's perfectly safe--part of the reason is that I was so hopelessly addicted to coffee before getting pregnant that after dealing with all the caffeine withdrawal, I didn't want to "start anything up" again lol).

One thing that did help was this gel eye mask that Felipe got me--you know, the "spa" ones that you keep in the fridge? It didn't necessarily take the pain away, but it did provide some relief. My SIL suggested going to a chiro too (that's what helped her), so if they hadn't lessened on their own, I probably would have tried that. I hope you feel better!
