I'm having a major ugly day

I started Retin-A recently and because I was on a similar topical medication for so long, I didn't think I would peel too badly.  I used it two days in a row then took last night off and it looks like someone took a cheese grater to my face.  I have three enormous zits and so much caked on makeup to try to hide all of this that I look ridiculous.  My Clarisonic arrives today and I know my face will freak out even more if I start something different but I kind of want to dive into everything and get through the ugly period so I can eventually show my face again.

On top of all of that, I'm officially sick. I felt a sore throat coming on for the past two days and it's now official.  Based on the fact that my two year old lost her mind this morning during a crazy, insane tantrum, I'm guessing she's sick, too.  My three year old has a runny nose so we might all be in the same boat.

Nothing like a peeling face, three monstrous zits, caked on makeup (over peeling skin), two sick toddlers, and a sore throat (and beginnings of a cough) to make you feel like a beauty queen!  HA!  It can only get better from here.

Thank God I'm a SAHM so I can just change into sweats and hide under the covers while watching movies with my kids.  I'm so happy I don't have to give a presentation at some office job today.

  • Whatevs, you're hawt! ;)

I'm sorry you're having a rotten day.  I'm sick too and have pretty much lost my voice which is awesome given I work retail.

    I'm sorry you're having a rotten day.

I remember starting retin-a and peeling so bad at the same time it was bringing all of my big angry zits to the surface. It hurt, so I couldn't pretend it wasn't happening, and I just had to keep reminding myself that it had to do this before it could get better.

And I was in college, so I couldn't hide.  (I ended up having to use it once every 3 days because if I did any more than that it made my skin very angry, but once I got the right dose down, it did wonders - smooth like a baby's tushie!)

Sorry you are sicky too, and that the kiddos are as well..  :(

  • Hugs! Hopefully it gets better, it's not noon yet, it could turn around!

  • I picked up DS from school, fed the kids then put them down for their nap.  I just washed my face and now I'm wearing a tank top and huge pajama bottoms while watching the Today Show on Tivo.  Soooooo happy I don't have to work and I won't be facing anyone outside of toddlers today.

I know my skin will get worse before it gets better but I'll be cancelling date night this Friday if this doesn't get better!!  Ha!

Btw - I'm 31 y.o.  I've been dealing with this since I was 20.  Accutane at age 23 was a cure-all (but apparently only for about five years).  Hopefully my Retin-A, Clarisonic, and Spironolactone will make me look more like a baby's toosh and less like an awkward teenager (with wrinkles).  Good Lord.

  • I have a clarisonic and I love it!  My skin needed a week or two to adjust but it usually looks really good now...  although this pregnancy has been really hard on my face but aside from that ; )
  • I am ridiculously excited to start using it.  All the girls on F&B say to not use it with a new soap or anything like that.  I know starting new meds, a new topical AND starting the Clarisonic is not the brightest idea but I'm already a wreck and I can't wait to see some major results.

DH just surprised me with this Clarisonic since he knew I've been wanting one for so long.  I am so sick of these breakouts so it was really nice of him to get one for me.  They're not super cheap so I was trying to avoid the cost but I know I'll love it.

I've used mine with lots of different soaps.  Right now I'm loving a Burt's Bees non-foaming one that I got as a gift : )  Prior to that, I was using the Cetaphil cleanser that they sell at Costco because it was cheap.  I wasn't crazy about the sample bottles of Clarisonic brand soap and couldn't afford to buy special facewash anyway so... yeah...

Something to note, at least with me, if I don't use it for a week or two, it's like my skin has to get adjusted all over again.  Use it consistently (I use mine every night or every other night) and you should get great results.
