Career counseling?

Anyone done this? Was it helpful? My Dh is having a midlife crisis and HATES his new job. However, he doesn't know what else he wants to do. I've been thinking he needs to talk to someone b/c he hasn't figured anything out in 9 months. TIA!

Re: Career counseling?

  • I did one last year, and I really enjoyed it and found the whole experience to be very informative.  It was a classroom style thing, we did the Meyers Briggs testing and also a Strong Interest Inventory.  I took it at Arapahoe Community College - it was 2 nights for 2 hours I think.  I did feel like an old lady though, there were 2 other 19 year old guys taking it with me.  I know Metro offers one too, might cater to a "more mature" crowd.

This.  He may find it valuable but recognize that most career counselors are trained to work with young adults/kids.  I'd call around to see if any of them have knowledge to support individuals going through career changes (Metro is a good idea since they have an older demographic).
