Donating eggs?

Does anyone know anything about this? I recently heard that a friend of a friend had a baby by this procedure and was curious about it. Thanks

Re: Donating eggs?

  • I watched a special on tv a long time ago on it. Basically you go through all the fertility treatments/drugs then they extract your eggs and they are donated. Not sure if they do this locally or not. I know the gal doing it was being pd (like a sperm donor). She was a college gal.
  • One of the estheticians that used to work with me at the gym was an egg donor.  We talked about it once and I can't remember the exact procedure, but some how she was notified of when she would donate, and then she'd spend weeks or maybe a month or more giving herself hormone injections to prepare for it.  Then she couldn't have sex, obviously, while that was going on, then they'd call her into the office and basically take her eggs while the receipent was in the other room waiting for them.
  • I've heard egg donors get paid very, very well.

yes. This is the general process and yes, they do this locally, in Omaha. Egg 'donor' is kind of a misnomer because they are paid for the eggs. And yes, they are paid very well.

PIE looked into it w while ago but wasn't sure how I felt about it in the end. They were offering to pay something like $2500 per cycle and you could do 4 cycles I think. &10k was definitely alluring. This is where I looked :
