Chicken free grain free treats?
My dog is allergic to all forms of chicken and grains, and I can't find any treats that do not have one of those in them. I thought I was safe with Blue Buffalo Salmon grain free treats, but they have poultry broth in them.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Chicken free grain free treats?
What Zuke's do you use? Their minis all have grains.
OP: EVO, Bravo, ZiwiPeak, and Real Meat should all have options for you.
You could also buy a small bag of another kind of food to use as treats. As long as it tastes & smells different than the food that they normally get, your dogs won't mind I'm sure. We use Acana and they have several varieties of food that are chicken and grain free. I'm not sure if they have any treats.
Depending on what you use the treats for, you could also cook/chop up your own stuff - fruits, veggies, cooked meat, cheese, hard boiled egg.
Everything I give is chicken and grain free as well - Stella and Chewy's Carnivore Crunch (comes in beef or duck that are chicken free), Real Meat treats (many proteins), Bravo training treats, A Place for Paws dehydrated raw treats (green tripe is very high value for my dog).
For biscuits, Northern grain free treats (the green tripe and bison/blueberry are favorites), K9 Kraving Cookies, Fromm grain free treats (cheese is fun for something different).
We've started making our own freeze dried treats. We use liver, chicken, natural hot dogs, cheddar cheese (a high value treat for one of our dogs), turkey, and beef.
You boil the meat for about 5 minutes, let cool, cut into small cubes, place on a cookie sheet, put in a frost free freezer, and leave them for a month. After that month, they are freeze dried.
These are by far the favorite treats our guys eat.
