When did you stop using a baby monitor?

Especially those who have rooms far away from their kiddos or two storys?

Re: When did you stop using a baby monitor?

  • E will be 4 in June and we still have a monitor in her room.  Her room is on the other side of the house from ours, so I like being able to hear her.  She doesn't really call for us anymore, she just comes to our room, so it's probably not necessary.  Isla's room is right next to E's, so when we start putting Isla in her room, we'll take the monitor out of E's and put it in there.  If E were to really start yelling, we'd still be able to hear it through the monitor with it being in the next room.
  • We stopped when we put B in a bed that he could get out of on his own.  We figured he'd come to us in that instant.  So, in most cases, he would stand at his door and cry, which would wake me up anyway.

  • C is 4 and we still use it. There have bee times when he has been sick at night and would just lay in his bed at night and cry. I couldn't hear that from our room, but could hear it over the monitor. There are other times when he wakes up and needs something and will just come into our room.
  • Ours broke probably 3-4 months ago (older DS is 5 1/2, younger was 2 in Dec, they share a room). We didn't replace it. Their room is right down the hall from ours, though. No problems at all hearing anything from them. We close their door but leave ours partially open so we can hear them.
