Anyone have any experiences with St. Benedict School in Holmdel?
Do your kids or friends/relatives kids go there? what do you/they like/dislike? we are going to an open house there next week. DS is more than 1 yr away from kindergarten, but we want to see what it is all about.
i went to public school my whole life, but DH went to catholic school. he really likes the environment, discipline, uniforms, etc of catholic school.
or, if your kids go to any catholic school, what are some things i should look for / questions to ask at the open house?
thanks!!
Re: Anyone have any experiences with St. Benedict School in Holmdel?
We're also considering sending our son to St. Benedict's. We have some friends who send their children there, one is in 3rd the other in 5th I think and they LOVE it. We're really torn between St. Ben's and our local public school, Ravine Drive. I'm curious to see what responses you get.
I don't know anything about St. Benedicts but one of my closest friends is a K teacher at Ravine and she loves it there. We used to teach together before she moved to that school and she raves about it there.
Renee: Your son would go to Strathmore (as will mine because I identify myself with Humanistic Judaism and my husband, if anything, identifies himself with Taoism). That is, if he went to public school. The elementary schools in Matawan/Aberdeen are really great schools - I know many teachers there, as well as having gone through the school district myself. That being said, I do have a friend from Old Bridge who sends her kids to St. Benedict's and is very happy with it.
i have heard wonderful things about st. ben's and its principal. i know a lot of people do not like the pastor, but have been told his interaction with the school is minimal at best...that said, i am concerned with the diversity of the school, both racially and economically...growing up there were two catholic grammar schools in the area...st. ben's and st. joe's (where i went)...i feel that st. joe's provided a much better mix of families of differents races and from various socio-economic backgrounds. st. ben's was always a lot more homogenous...admittedly, i do not know what the current student body is like, but this is one thing that always stood out to me...
