Who has quit? I am on day 2 and I really don't think I can do this. My head hurts and i'm just pissed off. How does any manage to kick the habit? FYI I have been smoking for 12 years

handsome boy modeling school was the best 60 dollars I ever spent. If it wasn't for handsome boy modeling scholl I would not be the modle I am today.
Re: Smoking
One of our nesties is a year in! YAY!
I've quit before, but I was only a smoker for a few years. I just got up and didn't feel the urge to smoke anymore. And I quit just like that.
I just recently quit again. I have been secretive about it. This is my fricken FIFTH time to quit, and I am hoping it will be the last.
I haven't had one since January 1st, but I will not lie... I snuck a drag off someone else's cigg the weekend before last when I was out with friends. I have not had a whole one yet, though.
I am trying to re-work my brain to think healthier thoughts. I used to think, "It will kill me to go a whole day without a ciggarette"
Now I try to reverse that and think, "This nic-fit and craving situation feels like it is killing me, but it really is not... it's the cancer stick that is killing me."
It will be a struggle for a little while, if not forever. Stay strong, though! The first two weeks are the WORST, and then it gets easier. Chew gum, have some candy nearby, take some aleve or tylenol for the headaches, and just take deep breathes when the nic-fits occur. You can do this!
I smoked for 5 years and at my worst was 2 packs a day.
It took me about 10 tries, but I did it. I also used patches a few times, those helped but gave you some pretty fuccked up dreams.
Eventually it was just diminishing the number I smoked a day until I was over it. For me, it was more of putting a pen in my mouth when I was itching for a cig. That helped a lot, too (especially after meals!).
I just hit my One-Year smoke free mark on the 20th. I was a pack a day smoker for 13 years. I used Chantix, so maybe go and talk to your doc.
First of all, you have to have a positive attitude. I know that sounds like coffeehouse psychological bullsh!t, but it's true. Don't think "it's only been two days and I'm freaking", instead think "Wow! I've made it two days! When was the last time THAT happened? I'm a badass!" Cuz, you are. There's no doubt, you're doing something amazing here. Be proud of yourself.
Next, drink water like it's going out of style. Brush your teeth when you get a craving so you won't want to ruin that minty-fresh feeling. Eat crunchy things (carrots were my savior). Keep your hands busy.
Lastly, something that helped me was writing down all of the reasons I was quitting. Everything from health, to money, to just plain smelling better. I would keep it in my purse (still do, actually) and read it when I had a craving, then ask myself "do I really want to give all of this up? Am I really going to let some stupid inanimate object to have that much power over me?"
I hope this helps! Stay strong and go get a snack and a glass of water!
