Gift ideas for 2 girls

My two nieces have their birthday party this weekend (they're sisters and their birthdays are exactly a week apart, so they have a combined party). The older one just turned 6, the younger one just turned 3. I can easily figure out a good gift for the 3 year old (although ideas are always welcome) but I'm not sure for the 6 year old and don't want to get something too babyish and don't know her well enough to know her interests.

Any thoughts? We're looking to spend $15-20 per kid. Thanks!

Re: Gift ideas for 2 girls

  • Lego just came out with girl Legos, they have a girl figurine that go with each set, and my 6 year old is OBSESSED.  The set is $19.99 at Target.  Other than that, anything art related...she also got a friendship bracelet maker (also at Target, but in the crayons/crafts aisle) that she loves.

  • Given that this is for family, I'd ask their parents what the kids would like/already have/etc, and use that as a guideline. For girls, I tend to do arts/crafts kits geared toward their age group and interests, looking for ones that won't be super messy so that their parents aren't inclined to get revenge when it's A's birthday... The last gift I got for a 6 year old was a disney program for the computer you upload their kids' pictures, and the program would draw your character and incorporate it into a disney-style fairytale book at the appropriate reading level to print out. She loved it!

  • Great ideas, thanks! I'll look at a few different art kits :) SIL gave my kids paint, so revenge might be fun lol!
