Sewing machine repair recs

My machine needs to be serviced.  My feed dogs are not working properly, and I end up with a huge knot in the bobbin compartment.  It's a Brother if that makes any difference.

  • Sewing Machine Warehouse off of 249 just north of 1960  (Sits next to the Movie Tavern).   Best place to get machines serviced.

    and for lessons too!

  • Thanks Lex!  I'll haul it over there tomorrow.

  • Have you been cleaning the lint out of the bobbin case regularly? That can cause the feed dogs to jam and if the bobbin case isn't moving like it's supposed to (because of lint) it can cause the thread to knot. Just trying to help you out before you spend money to have it repaired!
  • I clean it regularly and have tried all of the tricks that I can think of.  I had my Mom look at it too.  It needs to go in.

  • Ok I was just trying to save you some money if it was an easy fix!
  • ditto sweet thang. I took my ancient machine there. I was actually asking if I should just get a new machine or get it serviced. But when I told them my budget for a new one was $250, they said I should keep my old one because it's still better than anything I could buy for that...

I took that as a sign of their honesty since they could have made more money off of me. But... sigh... I long for an automatic buttonholer. My 1961 Singer doesn't do them by itself and I don't know how. Maybe I should go see about those lessons.
