My parents cruise was just extended by a day

They were supposed to get back on Friday, but, a passenger on the ship is very sick and they had to turn back to get within range of Puerto Rico so a helicopter could airlift this passenger off.  They are now getting home Saturday morning.

My mother was very, very sick on their last cruise, but, it was a trans-atlantic, so, she had to stay on the whole time and, when I picked them up at port, I took her right to the hospital.   It is so scary to be sick like that.

Thank goodness they are able to get this man off (they made announcements twice asking for blood to be donated to him) and I hope he'll be OK.

    Yikes. That is scary!

This is one of the reasons I can't imagine going on a cruise. I get motion sickness very easily anyway but I would be so worried about getting really sick and them not being able to care for me as well as a hospital could.

  • I've been following this on Cruise Critics.   Explorer of the Seas is our "home away from home" lately      On our 11/10 sailing a man died during a dance contest, it was sad, the poor wife.   Happens more often then we all know unfortunately.
