Potty training question (day vs. night)?

We just started training DD and she is doing great during the day...so much better than I ever anticipated (I hope it is not just a phase). I put her in Huggies Slip-ons (she says pull ups) for night now.  How long after day training did you do night training? or did you do it all at once? tips?

Re: Potty training question (day vs. night)?

  • I don't think you can force night training. My daughter day trained at a little less than 2.5 and still wears a pull up to bed at age 4.

  • I just focused on day training. At night he'd wear pull ups. It was about 6 months from when he was day trained until he was able to not wear pull ups at night. I don't think it's something that can be trained or taught, it something their body figures out on its own.

  • Ou cannot night train - its toaly different. RP wore pull ups at night until he was consistently waking up dry - several months. Their oldies need to recognize that they need to go, and from what I've read and what our ped said it can often take up to a year.

  • My son potty trained around 2.5 for day and we are now 6 months later and still wearing a diaper at night.  He pees in his sleep when he naps as well so we've had some issues when he's fallen asleep before I can get to him. He wakes up w/ a massive diaper so I don't think he's ready any time soon.
  • I dont care about night time/naps, and frankly I am not changing sheets. When she gets up for like a month and she is dry then I might let her wear underwear to sleep, until then she gets a night time diaper. My son was always night trained, but he goes a really long time without having to pee, always has. She goes a lot more then he does during the day and always wakes up wet. I dont think you can really "train" them at night. They have to be able to wake themselves up and I wouldnt know how to teach that
  • we never did night training with Griffin... we kept him in pullups and after a few weekso f being PT'd he started waking up dry all on his own.

pretty much the same with Gibby. He wakes up dry often.... he's still not totally potty trained - he was very into it for a while and now isn't- and we're OK with that b/c we didn't plan to train him this young anyway.... so he's in pullups during the day still, too.  He wakes up from almost all naps dry... and many mornings he is dry.... we have never "night trained" at all.

i like to sleep, lol.  I'm fine if they are in pullups until they go to college as long as i don't have to wake up all night long :)

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • Teagan was 2 years 10 months when she was day trained and we got rid of the pullups at night when she was 4 years 4 months. I think we could have done it sooner and she was waking up to pee but didn't do anything about it b/c she knew she had the pullup. Once we got rid of the pullup we were getting up once a night to take her to the bathroom, so I'm not sorry we put that off for a bit.
