new to this board - need some knitting advice!

I have been a Nestie for years, but usually stick to my state board or sometimes the parent topics.  I was taught how to knit by my grandmother when I was 7, she has been gone for 19 years, but knitting makes me feel like she is still with me.

I have made several feather and fan patterned baby blankets with Bernat Satin yarn.  When the yarn was only available in craft stores it was soft, but as thick as worsted yarn.  Now that Satin is available at ACMooore, Michaels and JoAnns, the quality has diminished and it has become very thin and the blankets stretch.

I am looking for a new baby yarn - pastels and a variegated pastel - that is soft and a worsted weight.

Thanks!

  • I really like Vanna's Choice Baby.  It's not quite as soft as the bernat super soft, but I really like the colors and the way it works up.

A bit pricier yarn is the cotton-ease from Lionbrand.  I just made a baby blanket out of it for my nephew, and they seem to love it.  This one is more rich colors than baby colors, but the yellow and light green are nice.

  • I like Caron Simply Soft for baby blankets.  Economical and comes in a million colors.

For bulky weight projects, I like Bernat's Chunkee Softee (I think that's what it's called; it's been a while).

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball
