Grad School?

Has anyone applied to grad school in the last 1-3 years? If so, what kinds of tips could you give me for applying?

Re: Grad School?

  • I actually just finished grad school. What kind of grad school are you going to? For teaching? Business? When I applied, it was fairly easy. I started at Walsh College and finished at Kaplan University. Most business schools require you to take an entrance exam (GMAT), but I'm not quite familiar with entrance exams for teaching. I know you'll need a resume and all transcripts for your undergrad and you'll also have to file a FAFSA.
  • I did not know about the FAFSA! I am applying to Wayne State for their I/O Psychology program.  I know I have to take the GRE (boo!) and a few other things.  Thanks for the heads up about FAFSA..

Just one question: how do I apply for FAFSA? lol

  • You'll go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information.  You'll need your tax returns and some other information as well.  You'll also want to find out the school codes of the various programs you are applying to so when you submit your FAFSA, it is automatically sent to the schools you are applying to.

FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  It's how you received federal loans for school.

  • I know I had FAFSA when I was in undergrad, but I think my mom did it for me, since I was still a dependent.  Thanks for all the help! I will start checking it out now!
  • I don't post often but I applied to Wayne State for my MSW (master's in social work) a few years ago, and graduated in 2010.  I had to fill out the basic application, have all of my transcripts sent from my previous schools and do an essay.  It was pretty easy except for the essay of course, that took a good month or so. I also had some of my previous professors look at my essay before I sent it for feedback, that was really helpful!   Good luck, Wayne is a great school!
