New Jersey Nesties
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

How do I clear a MacBook?

I'm getting a new laptop at work in the next day or so, and the tech department does NOT clear our systems (ie, when I went out on maternity leave, the person who received my laptop was then privvy to my bookmarks, documents, etc).

Besides the obvious (backing up and then deleting files, etc) what do I need to do?  I have passwords on here which is probably my biggest concern.

I'm googling, but figured I'd check here too.

Re: How do I clear a MacBook?

  • Make sure cookies (I think?) and history are all cleared.
  • I am not sure if Macs have this- but on a PC you can set it back to factory settings and it wipes it- is there something like that for Macs?
