Re: Valentine's Day Poll

  • We celebrate but its also E's bday. I feel bad for stealing his bday from him. We go out to eat together for vday and with his family for his bday. Im getting him concert tickets but not sure what to get for vday...

  • I mean I dont know what to get him for vday...prob chocolates and a card.

  • We don't celebrate VDay. It is 4 days after my birthday, so there was never any point. Usually I get a card and candy. I tell Matt not to buy flowers on VDay b/c they are so freakin overpriced. Sometimes he gets them for me the week after.

  • We celebrate, but not in a big way. I make him a three course dinner (very rare for me lol) complete with a handmade menu, and he gets me some sort of card+gift. I don't really know what we'll do this year if I'm on bedrest though...probably just order in.

  • We go the Seton Hall basketball game (or, the closest one to Vday if there's not one on) and exchange cards. We don't do big gifts (candy, if anything) and we don't go out to dinner - I hate fighting the crowds that day.

ETA: My HS girlfriends and boyfriends/husbands/fiances get together the Saturday closest to Vday every year. We all get dressed up and do a potluck at someone's house. It is, by far, my favorite part of Vday. It'll be our 10th year doing it this year!

  • We do celebrate. In the past we've gone out for a fancy dinner, or sometimes we play it low key and just get each other a card and some candy. This year I have no clue other than we'll probably make our FB announcement about Baby A since we will be 13 weeks by then. We have our NT scan the day before on the 13th, and then I have an OB appt on the 15th. I'm thinking with the baby coming and already spending tons of money on moving and the holidays and things, we'll probably just stay in instead of spending a fortune at a fancy restaurant and just do cards and some candy. Maybe I'll make us something more involved for dinner or bake a dessert or something. I've hinted I might like some flowers for vday, just because I haven't gotten any from him in like 1.5 yrs., of course he just picks a bouquet up at the Exchange or grocery store on his way home, they aren't fancy.

ETA to finish my thought and correct spelling.

  • Kind of, but nothing big. The last few years we've gone out to dinner one of the nights near v-day, but have avoided the actual day because of the crowds and the fact that restaurants tend to change their menus and create an overpriced special "valentine's day" menu. One of us will make a nice dinner on the actual night (or attempt to if it falls during the week...). We sometimes get each other something small (candy, very small gift) and always exchange cards.

  • We celebrate with cards and usually small gifts.

I still need to get J's gift!

V-day is 3 days before my birthday so we usually go out to dinner for both. :)

  • We've never been big on Valentine's Day.  We sometimes get each other cards, but that's pretty much it.  We'll see this time around.  I feel like we need to celebrate all "us" holidays this year as it will be our last opportunity w/o needing to find a babysitter. :)

  • Kind of. We usually go out to a nice dinner sometime around Vday. We exchange gifts and cards but it's nothing big. He usually gets me a Starbucks gift card and I usually pick him up a book he's been wanting or maybe some t-shirts.

  • We don't really celebrate.  Sometimes I buy him a six pack of beer with a homemade card.  This year we will be in Palm Springs with the IL's.

  • Not usually maybe a card and or some candy. We are not big into vday.

  • We usually do a little something. A card, maybe dinner and John usually get's me flowers about a week or so after since I've convinced him that he is getting ripped off buying them on V-day!

  • Yes, definitely!  This year we're going to Lawry's Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills (it's where the football teams always eat before the Rose Bowl).  Yum!

I keep telling DH not to buy them because they're so gosh darn expensive, but he usually has flowers sent to me at work.  He could probably buy me like 10 bouquets at Costco throughout the rest of the year for that price...

  • We don't really celebrate. We'll do something around then, go out to a fancy dinner, and maybe cards and definitely candy. I had a friend die on valentine's day when I was in high school, so it has bittersweet emotions for me.

  • I don't think we'll do anything, it's not a huge holiday for us.  H did preorder the new cd from our favorite group that comes out on V Day, so that will be enough for me.

I might actually go eat sushi with girls that I work with because one of them is unlucky in love and the other one's husband works 2nd shift.  If H has grad classes that evening, I think that would be a lot of fun.

  • Editing to add: We're having a double dinner date with two of our friends. My friend is making dinner and I'm in charge of desert-chocolate fondue!! Yummm!!

  • We do, but this year it is the same day as an away swim meet against the number one team in the conference (we are number two -- they are the only ones who have beaten us)...sooo..yeah, maybe the weekend before or after. We usually do cards and small gifts (if anything). Last year Ella was 11 days old, so I made a collage of some pics of DH and her. It was also the first time we left her with anyone (my parents).

This year I'm making sexy and romantic coupons. Cheap and fun!

  • We are doing dinner with 2 other couples the Saturday before. I will get R a card and he normally gets me flowers. Nothing big though because my b-day is 4 days later.

  • Typically I make a big dinner, mostly surf and turf, and we get each other a little something.

This year we bought a laptop for vday and we will be ordering in.

  • We are not big valentines people... Never have been actually. M used to get me flowers, but after we got engaged I wanted him to not spend $50-60 on that. Last year we just went out to dinner - no cards or anything. This year though, I am planning on getting him a canister of his favorite hot chocolate. Nothing big deal though.

  • We're not huge on it. We usually go out to dinner and maybe exchange cards. Sometimes, not even that.
