Kind of AW post re: 3 year old getting ready in the AM

We've been having a major issue getting our 3 (almost 4) year old ready in the morning.  He's always been one for "I'll do it myself" or "I can do it," while I'm trying to hurry him along.  And he takes forever, or stops getting ready midway through saying that he'll go to school in just his pants and no shirt or whatever mode of half-dressed he is in at the moment.

So this morning, while he was going to the bathroom and brushing his teeth, I decided to make it into a game.  He came back into the bedroom and I had set all of his clothes up on the floor in a line from his bed to the door.  (underwear, pants, shirt, socks, shoes)  I told him that it was a game, like Candyland, and that in order to leave his room and be able to watch a little TV, he had to put on each item of clothing in the order it was on the floor.  And he couldn't go to the next "space" until he finished at the one before.  We even upped the stakes and asked him to do 5 jumping jacks (which is hilarious to watch) in between each item he puts on.

He was ready in record time.  I hope it continues to work :)
