If you went into labor on your own...(clicky poll)

Re: If you went into labor on your own...(clicky poll)

  • Is there a good reason for this poll?  You still have 10 1/2 hours to give birth exactly when I predicted. Wink
  • Lucy - labor started around 11am.  She was born at 3:16pm.  Lexi - labor started at 4am. She was born at 6:36am.  Max - labor started at 8pm.  He was born at 10:57pm.  So morning, mid day, and evening.  But only when DH was around and it was "convenient" if that makes sense.  DH was there, my mom was around to take other kids if needed, traffic wasn't bad, etc.  my understanding is that most labors start in the night because hormone levels surge then.  Which makes sense because way way back when that would be when you were safe for the night and wouldn't be attacked by an animal or something...

  • Water broke at 1130pm
  • I had inconsistent but very noticeable contractions from about 1 pm on, but time-able, painful ones from about 9 pm. We went to the hospital at 2 am, got sent home at 5:30 am, water broke at 7 am, DD was born by emergency c at 9:10 am. I was at 8 centimeters by the time I got into to OR, though, so I'm guessing it wouldn't have been a whole lot longer anyway.

  • With DS, it started around 10 pm, although it's kind of hard to say when it really started because it was a gradual building of contractions.  But they became noticeable around then, so that's what I'm going with.  With DD, it started at 1:45 pm.  It was fast and noticeable.

My water didn't break either time until I was pretty far into labor.

  • My water broke at 4:15 pm - I was schedule to start cervix ripening at the hospital between 5-6 pm, so I think Mr. E kickstarted things to keep me from having drugs shoved up my hoo-hah.
  • With #1 labor started at 10:30 PM and contractions were immediately consistent timeable.  She was born at 7:07 PM the next night.

With #2 sporadic contractions started at 5:00 PM, but didn't really become noticable and timeable until 3:00 AM and he was at 1:31 PM that afternoon.

  • DD1 was induced, although I'd had contrax on and off the night before.

My water broke with DD2 around 11 p.m.  at 38w5d. About half an hour after DH and I had DTD. There were definitely some hormone surges going on. ;)
