I didn't want to clog up the vent/confession post with a bunch of homeschool talk lol.
My sister homeschools her kids and has been doing so for a few years now. I know she's done a ton of research into different things like curriculum and such, and she is part of at least one homeschool group in the area. If you want, I could have her send me some information to pass along to you.
IMO the whole "socialization" thing isn't even worth worrying about. Unless you keep the kids at home 24/7 they will get lots of social activity. My sisters kids have friends, are involved in group activities (i.e. ice skating/boy scouts), etc. Whether your daughters (and any future LOs) are social or not will likely depend on their personality a lot more than where they attend school.

I had a few friends in HS that were homeschooled. They were social through sports, youth group, etc. I don't see it being a problem.
Oooh!! Erin, that would be great. I'd really appreciate any information that she can give me. My cousin's wife homeschools their children, but she recently moved to Texas and is a lot harder to get in touch with now.
Very good point about the socialization depending more on their personality itself. Children that are more reserved are probably going to be that way even in a public school setting, and children that are more outgoing will be that way regardless IMO.
ITA. I am (believe it or not) a fairly shy person and I struggle with making small talk, especially in big group settings with a lot of new people. I went to public school and was in girl scouts and stuff. When people first meet me they tend to think I'm stuckup or rude because I don't say much. Of course the irony is, after I get comfortable I don't shut up.
Any how - I will get in touch with my sister and pass along whatever she sends me.
For the record, I've never thought of you that way.
Thanks again! I'd really appreciate it! I'm curious to know what she has to say in regards to how you register with the state, or what legal things/paperwork wise that need to be addressed before starting. I think you do have to be listed as homeschooling in some fashion, but I don't know how that all works. I've done some research online but everything is so confusing because it's in "legal speak".
FWIW I'm a lot more comfortable around you crazies since I "know" you already.
I emailed my sister so I will see what she has to pass along!
I will take that as a compliment. lol
Excellent, thanks!
Ooop! Did I type crazies?! I meant LADIES
