My Valentine Bookends (2~13~13, 2~15~09)

Re: Check-In Time
1. My Advent scarf. But I haven't blocked it, so no good pix
2. Frantically finishing a Christmas gift scarf
and a ballet sweater for my niece's birthday
3. Nope
4. I'm excited to have found a Sesame Street handpainted doll tutorial on Pinterest. I'm going to make some for DD's birthday
5. We just got back from swim lessons. And a side trip to Michaels
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010
Don't drink the water.
Disclaimer: I am not an MD. Please don't PM me with pregnancy-related questions. Ask your doctor.
2. What's next on your list? Working on another test knit--this time a stranded hat in neutrals--no orange this time. And then I'm trying to finish up some UFOs I have sitting around, some socks and an afghan.
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? Nothing crafty. Probably something chocolatey. The way to my man's heart is definitely through food.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? Like everyone else, I've really been in a knitting rut lately. I blame the holidays and then my sad excuse to finish off all my UFOs before starting anything new. They're UFOs for a reason--not exciting! I have some beautiful new yarn to make some beautiful new sweaters, but they feel juust out of reach. I'll get there. I'm hoping this test knit hat will be the kick in the pants that I need.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
NCR at all, but DH and I are starting to reconsider looking for a home. My parents just bought a beautiful new house and it really made me start pining for a house of my own. DH says after tax season (poor thing is so busy) we can start looking again, yay!

Updated 3-12
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) LA's valentine dress and an American Girl peasant top (for my friend who trades her services with me). I didn't take pictures of the AG top--but it was just out of 21 wale white cord.
2. What's next on your list? A Lolly Wolly knock off dress for my friend's kid, LA's valentine cards, LA's birthday stuff--eek
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? Valentine cards/gift for LA's classmates and I made her dress.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? CR--I have got to start sewing some of the multitude of patterns I have and stop shopping!!! My name is Justinlove and I am a fabric and pattern hoarder.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
I know we need the rain, but I am sick and tired of dreary, wet days! I have wanted to take a picture of LA's room for weeks now, but do you think we ever have sun anymore?? Her room is on the north/east side of our house so it isn't as naturally bright, so I need the sun for photos!!!
My Valentine Bookends (2~13~13, 2~15~09)
1. I made a couple of things for baby showers. Both I just made based on pictures I found online so I have no pattern for them.

2. I can't decide what to make next.
3. Maybe. I also haven't decided yet. I've sort of been a bum after finishing my Christmas projects and baby shower gifts. I need to get back into the swing of things again.
4. I really wish that there was a good fabric/craft store on my side of town. Or just in my town period.
5. I think Pinterest needs to make a function so you can make some of your boards private. When you are crafting/planning/shopping for somebody who follows your boards it makes it difficult to keep things a secret.
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) I made some Valentine Mailboxes from those $1 mailboxes at Target and some melted crayons. Hope to post a picture in the next day or two.
2. What's next on your list? Autograph book for Disney and maybe a tee-shirt for the birthday girl. Also finish up scrapbooking as I have P's Christmas and 3 month pictures to scrap.
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? See #1
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? Feel like I have so much to do and so little time. I really need to stay up some after P goes to bed but I am so tired at 8:00 that I want to crawl in bed too.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
I really got to get on the ball with crafts. Also need to narrow down P's birthday even though it is 8 months away. I don't want to spend my weekends in the summer working on crafts for it, so if I can narrow down things then I can start making stuff and hopefully not have to be in a rush to do it all.
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) None finished, but I have two quilts (one for a baby and one for my sister that are ALMOST done!)
2. What's next on your list? I'm finally going to attempt a tshirt quilt with my old college tees. :-)
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? Probably not. :-)

1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already)
I've been playing with the new embroidery machine- I love it! No completed projects, yet- I hope to get some stuff done this weekend.
2. What's next on your list? V-day dress for Gwen, tee for Gabe.
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? I think the clothes will do it- but, I'm not sure- I love that holiday so stinking much it's ridiculous. Something about pink and red and candy and hearts- it just makes me happy.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? Love my SE-400- it was only $272 shipped from Overstock as a refurb- and it is brand spanking new. I also love Sierra Era Universal- it's a free embroidery digitizer, editor, and a very cool chunk of software. Glad I didn't invest in anything else- I'm really happy with this!
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
Car related happy: We just traded in our '06 Sonata for a brand new '11 Sonata Hybrid! 38mpg on the drive home- mostly off the highway, no less. We got a fantastic deal on it and 0% financing- so happy! We were averaging ~21mpg on the old car! DH works from home, but, Gabe's school is 5 days a week and ~15mi away, so we did chew through some gas.
EA: Oh, guess who's getting a Hobby Lobby 5 minutes from home? I wish I was still in a naive love bubble with them. I've been able to avoid shopping at the one 30 minutes away- but, this one is going right into the shopping center with our Target- so, we're there at least once a week. Grrr.
1. None since the quillow I made for my MIL for Christmas
2. I need to do the quilt for my mom. I'd also like to finish the teal scarf I started a few months back.
3. I would like to make a wreath and a few table runners. I want to try and decorate my DR by season.
4. I wish I had motivation! Being in school, working and dealing with some not-so-fun health/personal stuff has zapped my energy. Crafting is a stress-reliever for me so I need to get back into it.
5. I'm still getting into Pinterest. Like I need YET ANOTHER time-sucking Internet past time
.
I'm too tired to function properly right now. LOL
I just wanted to say. Justinlove your new siggy pic is to die for cute! LA looks adorable "sewing".
1) I PIPed my Christmas wristlets and belts and totes in Dec.
2) I am working on quilting the background on my metro quilt. The lines are all done, I am just working on the white. Huge quilt + small machine= takes forever.
3) I don't do V-Day.
4) I want a Pfaff... With a giant arm opening... must not spend the cash!!!
5) I get to make a baby girl quilt soon- I'm super excited. I need to finish the metro quilt and 1 boy quilt first, but then, it is on!
Stand up for something you believe in.
1. Finished projects - did 2 rag quilts and a stocking over Christmas. I posted a pic a week or so ago, and id re-post them but my computer is playing up! Oh and I made a birthday card recently, and a bunch of Xmas cards...
2. Next
- floor cushion cover and a couple of throw pillows for DSs "play corner".
- And some material toy box type things.. if I can figure out what to do...
- A quilt for my Mum's 60th birthday (which was earlier this month but i won't see her until the summer
- Finish of DS's nursery wall quilt and crib quilt, and make a crib skirt...
and the list goes on
3. Valentines - probably a card for DH if I get around to it!
4/5. I need more crafting time! I love love love my new sewing machine, i just don't have enough time to play. DS takes up a lot of time at the moment, but I wouldn't trade him for anything! I love being a mum, but looking forward to consistent nap times/ lengths... I wonder if they'll happen!!
Oh and Id like to feel more awake too!!
1. Finished projects I finished a baby quilt for my friend's Miss Rodeo Nebraska coronation auction (I PIP'ed last week or so), I've been working on getting my sewing room set up and functioning, and I've been working on Lily's big girl quilt. Dang 1" sashing with cornerstones...that's all I have to say (I just posted a pic in another thread).
2. What's next on your list? A baby girl quilt, a baby boy quilt (so that we're prepared whether we have an Adair or a Coy!), finish Lily's big girl quilt, finish binding on H's Husker quilt (coughquiltfromhellcough), bind another baby quilt that's been done and waiting a while, several sewing projects for baby stuff we need (some burp rags, a new Boppy cover or two, changing pad cover...), and I have a TON of furniture projects that need to be worked on when I can!
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? No plans yet. I hope to do a fun craft with DD, but I'm not doing much other than that.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? Kind of irritated with Connecting Threads for it taking so long to ship my order. Love their stuff, though, so I'm dealing with it. I have fabric coming for a baby girl quilt (Love My Honey line will be made into a Swoon block with a few borders), background fabric for the master bedroom quilt, and some thread (love their thread!).
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
My brain has been so fried. I have so many lists on my Kindle Fire that I can't even keep my lists straight. :S

1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) I finished the quilt for my aunt I PIP'd yesterday and some stuff for my sister I PIP'd last week, and I also made her this laptop case:
2. What's next on your list? I find out Wednesday if I am expecting a boy or girl and can't wait to start on a quilt!
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? no v-day plans yet. I usually make DH a valentine so I will probably do that.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? justinlove, I adore your new siggy pic!
5. Say whatever else is on your mind : I had a 30% off your total purchase coupon for JoAnns so I stocked up on fabric yesterday. I spent over $100! I am not telling DH about that
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) - I just finished a boy quilt which I'll PIP after it's given to the mama. It's Carina Gardner's Baby Safari prints and the pattern is morse code. I made a mistake with the letters, but I'm living with it. It quilted up really nicely and I am very happy with it and hope momma and baby are, too.
2. What's next on your list? - I am still working on finishing the binding on my Christmas tree skirt. I put it under my tree unbound, lol. I made a scrappy binding, but I somehow messed up my math so it's a little too narrow, and I'm having to really struggle with it to get it all sewn. It looks nice, but I will be so glad when it's finished. I also have a large-ish quilt (it is maybe full-size) that needs to be quilted and I'm waffling between doing it myself or sending it out. I finally bought the backing fabric and need to get that sewn together. Once I do that and put the quilt sandwich together, I'll decide whether to do it myself.
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? No!
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? - I had purchased a groupon to a local fabric shop and needed to use it up this week. I went to buy fabric and their quilting cotton selection was terrible. I only found 3 or 4 prints I wanted. I ended up buying some apparel fabric and a pattern since one of my new year's resolutions was to sew clothes.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
Nothing much! Just wishing I had time to do all the crafting I want to. I have a few projects I really need to get cracking on and I don't have a lot of time between having an almost-toddler, DH and a full-time job.
I'm going to be a baaaad influence right now, but I am in LOVE with my Pfaff. Like, it's actually pretty sad, and I'm not exaggerating at all. Everything about it is fantastic. I don't have the ruffler foot for it yet, so I had to drag my old POS Brother out for some major ruffling and it SUCKED. I went over and kissed my Pfaff.

Thanks! She is so into imitating me when I am sewing lately--I love it. It has taken all my will power not to give her the wooden sewing machine early
I even bought a small Olfa cutting mat for her to play with (and when she isn't using it, mama has a spare!!).
My Valentine Bookends (2~13~13, 2~15~09)
I know, I know. I should have bought it when it was on sale... but I didn't have the money right then and I didn't want to put the remainder on a cc. Then like 5 days later I got an unexpected bonus at work and ran to the shop and it was no longer on sale. So, I toil in agony waiting for the next discount. My local's asking price is WAY high (almost $5k).
Stand up for something you believe in.
Which one are you looking at? The Quilt Expression? (I vaguely remember you talking about it) If it is the QE4.0, that is INSANE! I got mine for right at $2100 I think. I went in there wanting the embroidery machine, but got scared away by how much it cost, and I didn't want to totally diminish my long arm fund to buy an embroidery machine. lol Anyway, hang in there, it's worth it!

1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already) some burp cloths for niece or nephew due late march
2. What's next on your list? more burp cloths (for my Appleseed), blanket for baby march, dog applique onsies (for both) getting started on Appleseed's room.......
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? probably a card for dh. Little Rat has been finding it fun to destroy things in my craft room, today's victim was a stamp I just bought the other day for dh's val card. that dog's lucky I find her cute!!!
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? really need to figure out what i'm making for grams' bday. my gift giving skills have greatly slipped recently
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
So much cute baby stuff out there, I need to know what junk Appleseed has!!!!
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already)
Valentine's Day outfit for DD (already PIP)
2. What's next on your list?
Finish the Emmeline Apron in time for my Aunt's birthday and start my cosmo bag!
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what??
For once I am ahead of the game, already done!
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments?
The sewing monkey is on my back and I want it gone. I have overwhelmed myself with projects that I want to do and now I don't know where to start. *sigh*
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
I am dying for some Reese's Chips Ahoy cookies but my kids & DH are home and I don't want to share! (How terrible am I?!)
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already)
PIP'd my blanket last night.
2. What's next on your list?
Bernat's KAL/CAL starts Feb 15. I will be doing both, although I have never really knitted anything, I am using this opportunity to learn. I have crocheted forever so that one will not be time consuming at all. Thank goodness for the Bernat forums so I can ask a bunch of stupid knitting questions.
I think I am also going to make cosmetic bags for my Shower Hosts. I have until Feb 20 to get these done. I just need to dig out my sewing machine. (It got buried in the move.)
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what?? No v-day stuff.
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments? I love this board and am so glad I am coming out of lurkdom. I love seeing everyones projects.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
I think I am going to knock out a quickly crocketed cowl tonight to keep me awake. I had a really long day and being this pregnant is getting really hard. *Sigh* I really should do some laundry but crocheting sounds more appealing.
Yes. That's the one. It was on sale for $2700 around the time of the quilt show was in town, but that's why I said it was insane to pay $4675. I know I live in a HCOL area, but I'm seriously tempted to just buy one when I'm home in St. Louis for $2400 and ship it back.
Stand up for something you believe in.
1. Finished projects (PIP if you haven't already)
A couple recent projects I haven't posted include an reverse appliqued bag for a little guy. Plus I'm trying to improve my embroidery skills. Goal is to make a monthly basket cover for seasonal book storage and display and embroider it with something.
2. What's next on your list?
February's basket cover has been sewn, but not embroidered. And I signed myself up for making one a month for the rest of the year. I'm working on the "Five Little Ducks" wool softies for LO...DH says they look like geese...which made me mad. Plus some small bags to tote puzzle pieces for when we're on the go.
3. Are you making anything for Valentine's day? If so, what??
Um...haven't gotten that far. V day is coming right up. How did that happen?
4. Rants/Raves/Comments/Compliments?
Just that DH said my ducks look like geese. Not nice.
5. Say whatever else is on your mind
Very excited for next Friday to find out of we're having a girl or boy. I may have bought some dress patterns at the thrift store today. Wonder if they'll be useful or not in coming weeks??
