baby schedule/sleep question

A is still waking at night to eat.  She goes right back to sleep but I remember when L was this age she was sleeping 11-12 hours per night consistently.  L did not nap well during the day which I think attributed to her sleeping so much at night.  A has been taking two short cat naps (45 min to an hour) per day and then one LONG 3 hour nap mid day.  Right now she has been sleeping since 10:30.  I don't want to wake her up because she obviously is tired but I feel like we are getting in a cycle of not STTN and I go back to work in a few weeks and am dying for her to start sleeping longer. WWYD?

  • LOL just as I hit post she woke up!

  • Cora sleeping well at night has not seemed related to her napping during the day. She is just now starting to go 8-9 hours regularly. Teagan was consistently sttn at this point and was a better napper than Cora. I would not cut the long nap short on purpose.

  • Every baby is different.  Corey was STTN somewhere around 3-4 months.  Travis did not until like 16 months.  He is still not a great sleeper.  he is down to 1 nap a day, but that one nap can range from 1.5 hours (today) - 3 hours (yesterday).  I think when they are that young you need to follow their lead.

  • Are you nursing or on formula?  3 months anyway is young to sleep 11 hours straight.  If she is only waking once, you are lucky.  She'll get there!
