Where to get shoes stretched?

My shoes for our wedding (in 2 weeks) arrived today.  We ordered them from Nordstrom's because it is next to impossible to find red shoes in a 4 1/2 in stores.  I had tried on several 5's and 5 1/2's over the weekend, and they were way too big in the back and there was no way to hide the gap.  Well, Length-wise the 4 1/2's are perfect, but I was also blessed with really wide feet up at the toe area and there is NO WAY these shoes will work without major intervention.

Does anyone know where you can get shoes stretched?  Stride Rite did it when I was a kid, but I can't imagine taking my heels there...can they even be stretched as much as I need?  I am SO shoe-frustrated!!

  • did you ask at nordstroms? they offer so many services to make clothes fit they may have it. Also I know I've seen shoe stretchers you can buy at BBB to do it yourself.

  • Houston Shoe Hospital?  There are lots of locations.
  • Ditto Houston Shoe Hospital.

FYI: My grandmother wears a size 4/4.5 and gets her shoes from Naturalizer.  I know they probably don't have any cute strappy red heels - but just so you know, they do carry smaller sizes if you are looking for some comfy shoes.  :-)

  • Nordstrom will stretch them.

  • a cobbler can do it, or nordstrom's will like others posted, or this works depending on how much stretch you need:

you can take a ziploc baggie, fill with water, put it in the toe box, and stick the shoes with the water baggie in the freezer. leave in the freezer for a few days; remove and let the water bag thaw while in the shoe.

  • We will try Nordstrom's this weekend!  If they can't help me for whatever reason I'll wear my sexy black heels and paint my toes red instead!  Thank you all!  :)

  • Well I'm late, but Nordstrom will do it. :o)
