Moms of multiples - anyone do a CVS or amnio?
I'm pregnant with twins and had my NT scan today. One baby came back with increased risks for Downs and Trisomy and they were recommending an amnio for that baby. Has anyone had an amnio or CVS on one twin? I've read that there can be increased risks for both babies and wouldn't want to put both babies at risk. TIA.
Re: Moms of multiples - anyone do a CVS or amnio?
How scary! Did they test both babies or just one? Good to know that it seemed okay with quads too. Thanks.

No experience with multiples but I had an amnio done. If you are going to do it, I would get the CVS done since it can be done earlier or else you'll drive yourself insane waiting another 8 weeks.
I know the risks can seem scary but please remember that this is what Maternal Fetal specialists do. This is their specialty. I was very nervous too but I remember my OB saying that MFM in Morristown had fantastic statistics for successful CVSs and Amnios.
Best of luck to you.
what was your risk? often the risk ration = something like 3% if you do the math that way, etc....
i did not do an amnio - even though my OB had to recommend - even he said he agreed with me to deny it... b/c of the double risk.
Some people "need to know" ... we did not. If our child had a problem we would still have gone to term - so it didn't matter to us and was not worth the risk.
It's a personal choice. best of luck making it. it's not easy.
It winds up being like 6% for downs and 4% for the other trisomies. I'm leaning towards not testing since we feel the same, I'd still go to term with both of them. As long as it wouldn't be harmful to either of the babies or myself.
Hearing all the feedback about using the right doctors and the lower risks. Definitely something to think about...
Thanks all!

They recommended we have one but we declined. Our NT scan did not show any increased risks but they also cautioned me it isn't as accurate in a multiples pregnancy. We decided not to take the additional risk.
Congratulations ad good luck to you.
