car seat for 1 year old?? (to buy for parent's car)

can you recommend a good car seat to buy for our parents to have in their car. we already bought the britax advocate which was rather expensive, so looking for a less expensive one for our parents to keep in their car..

TIA!!!

  • Graco My Ride 65. Really comfy, holds them to 65 pounds, has cupholders. We have it as a spare in MH's car and both kids love it. Got great safety ratings too, and sells for around 140-170, depending where you look.

  • FF or RF?  If you're already FF, then I'd recommend the Graco Nautilus because it will be the only seat you'll ever need for him going forward.

  • cosco scenera 40RF. Very inexpensive ($40-50) but decent height and weight limits both rear facing and forward facing (should take most kids to the new minimum of 2 years for rear facing).

THis is a good seat, well rated and very inexpensive. Its not very padded or anything, but for sporadic use its great. We use it for travel since its very lightweight and for the grandparents as needed. I think it was <$40 @ Target or walmart. We have an Advocate too- I love it!

we have these for my mom and sister's cars, too - they are a great price, and get good safety ratings, too.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

I just got this seat for my 1 YO and so far it's been great, she seems very comfy in there. I wouldn't say it's all that cheap though.

I also agree with the Scenera.  It's great for occasional use and is cheap!
