stomach bug....how long contagious

Sorry if this sounds really silly but I'm super paranoid about the stomach thing. I have plans to meet a friend and her kids at storytime today. I just found out her kids were puking Monday & still ill Tues. She says they're totally fine now. The program is very hands-on. I'm thinking of finding an excuse and backing out. I'm sure the girls are surrounded by these germs at school and everywhere else, but ignorance is bliss. Am I paranoid? Thanks

I would go.  There are germs everywhere!  Have fun..........try not to think like that.

I've read its 24 hours after the last symptoms occur.  So I'm sure by now, they are ok.

I think you're a little paranoid.  However, while my daycare's rule is that the child can't return until they've gone 24 hours without vomiting, I've read that the bug could still contagious for 7 days after the last vomit.

I read the same thing that it could be 3 days after symptoms up to 2 weeks! Waiting 2 weeks? Wow, lol.

I think the stomach bug is one of those things that you just never know how long - I would go- cause really they could get it from anywhere unless you hibernate in your house and no one goes out ever- lol!

I am the exact same way when it comes to the stomach virus ... but I would go.  I think its been enough days.

I guess my paranoia was justified. My friend didnt show up and just messaged me that one of the kids puked again this morning. That thing is evil....I guess it does last long.  Thanks for all the advice.
