Should I really have to do everyone's job?
My deductible for the year is $1000. My ob's office has me on a payment plan, making $200/month payments until this is paid off. I have paid $463 to them thus far (they INSISTED on a $63 payment for my pneumonia check up, even though I have not missed a scheduled payment. I was too tired/feverish to argue.) To the other clinic, I paid $463 as well, for the pneumonia care. That should leave me with less than $100 to pay, correct? They called today to remind me that I owe ANOTHER $200 payment on Tuesday. I checked my insurance claims, after speaking to her. Of course, the billing office is closed today, and won't reopen until Monday.

Re: Should I really have to do everyone's job?
Should you? No. Do you? Yes.
It seems like everybody in the world has issues with insurance and medical billing - it's just how it works.
that sucks! I would be pissed off.
True. And I have no idea why that needs to be the case.
Exactly, you're going to have to pay it. You don't want them to get a collector on your asz.
I don't *think* I'll actually end up having to pay it. I can print off my insurance summary page if it comes down to that, which breaks down my deductible. I'm *hoping* I can just call the billing office Monday or Tuesday, and have them update it with the insurance company, which they should already be doing before billing me each month. I may be overly optimistic, though.
I hope you get it worked out. I don't really understand it either. Why is so much lost in communication between everyone? Isn't it your JOB to do this stuff all day? Why can't they just do it right??
I got turned into collections once (and so did my sister) simply because the doctor's office never sent our bills to our insurance company--and it's not like we never gave them our insurance information. We were livid. They never even sent us a bill! But one day we both got a call on our cell phones at the same time from collections! A$swipes.
