Cooker chicks - did I screw this recipe up??

I'm making this crock pot chicken right now... by accident I put the corn starch/water mix in with the honey, soy, etc.... i was reading it all off my phone and missed where it said to put it in AFTER - i guess to thicken the sauce.

Will it cause any problems being in the general goo that the chicken is slow cooking in?

only I could screw up a super easy crock pot recipe! duh! :)

thanks!

  • It will  make the liquid you are cooking it in more glaze-like I'd keep an eye on it so the chicken doesn't dry out....

should i add in some more soy or something to thin it out a bit?

  • It doesn't seem like a very liquidy recipe to begin with. Ketchup and Honey are already pretty thick when they start. I'd watch it and see if you add more soy it might overpower the rest of the parts. I'd feel like I needed to keep it balanced with the other flavors. That being said I'd be fine with it being soy heavy because I like that flavor.
  • Keep an eye on it- if it gets thick (which I think it will) add some chicken broth, about a 1/2 cup, and then let it continue to cook. Don't add more soy- it'll throw off the balance of flavors.

I'm SO glad you said that I was thinking chicken stock because it can be neutral but held back because I didn't want to mess up the recipe!

Ha! I add broth to everything. It's my answer to many cooking issues.
