Do they have similar SIDS warnings in other countries?
My cousins sent my dad pictures of their 2 month old sleeping in a crib with pillows and blankets. I hope it was just a staged picture but I don't think so. They live on a farm in Italy. Odds are this baby will be fine but.......after having my own child and having it drilled into our heads about how she should only have a tight fitting sheet, etc. it worries me to think the baby is sleeping with all of these pillows. I don't talk to them regularly so I'm not about to reach out to them and inform them of how their child should be sleeping. It's just concerning to see. I am sometimes surprised to see how behind they are with these things.

Yep. In most other countries, babies/kids are expected to just adapt to the way of life. Here, we babyproof every nook and cranny of our houses and life becomes totally about the children.
(Yes, those are broad generalizations. Just making them to show the contrast.)
I'm sure there is a happy medium in there somewhere
