Estes Park/RMNP in February

I'm doing a review of Fawn Valley Inn in 3 weeks so we're spending a 3 day weekend there over President's Day. I haven't been up to Estes in winter (November, but not much snow) so I'm not sure what there is to do. Is there a place to go skating? How about sledding? I'm sure there is plenty of both but I'd love to get recs so I can kind of plan for the weekend.

Re: Estes Park/RMNP in February

  • We went in Feb oh, about 9 months before DD was born.

We went skating at a community center place and snowshoeing with some group the place we were staying hooked us up with.

    Helpful, no?

  • I only know of stuff to do at the YMCA of the Rockies.  They have lots of activities, but we usually stay in most of the time and go shopping one afternoon.  The brewery is pretty good.

  • Estes itself doesn't tend to get a lot of snow.  There may be places to sled up by bear lake in the park.  Not sure about skating.  It can be windy there in the winter, but the town is kind of quiet that time of year.
  • Thanks! I am sure we will hit up the brewery one day. I'm not huge on their food but the beer is great. I think we'll check out the YMCA for sure. I just want to have a few things to do besides staying in & watching movies & Spongebob all weekend long.
  • There is skating at the YMCA there.  Lots of fun!
  • I would cross country ski or snowshoe in RMNP.
