why do all antibiotics make kids sh!t themselves?

and why can't they make one that doesn't do this?  My kids have had 2 days worth of omnicef and already had accidents.  I have 8 more days of this garbage...grrrrrr

  • Are you giving acidophiliius (sp?)  That always helps my kids.

  • I agree give acidolphis. But omnicef was the WORST. Bryaden was about 9 months the 1st time he was on it and I freaked the hell out bc his poop had blood in it...didnt know that was one of tghe side effects turn the poop red, ugh! Hope your kids feel better asap.

  • Get kid Florastor Probiotics to help with stomach issues two times a day!

  • I agree about the probiotics.  My ped told me to get the one that you sprinkle on their food.  It was in the refrigerator section of the pharmacy at Wegmans.  The yogurt with probiotics is not "strong" enough.  This helped tremendously.

  • Omnicef is the worst.  My daughter was on it last winter and she had diarrhea for weeks from it.  Now when she has to go on meds - I ask for something else and nothing seems to bother her stomach the way Omnicef did.  I agree though - get Floraster kids.  I put it in her drinks twice a day whenever she is on antibiotics and it helps.
  • Because your digestive system relies on "good" bacteria. Antibiotics don't discriminate and kill them.

The probiotics people recommend are more good bacteria.

Same reason a lot of people get yeast infections when on antibiotics.
