and have lost one...
I know dogs grieve like we do and that they all grieve differently, however my friend lost a chi last week and her other chi is currently peeing and pooping all over the house. Is he marking where he still smells his buddy? Is it part of grief? I haven't had to go through this myself (yet), and there may not be a clear answer, just thought I would post here for opinions. TIA

Re: Those with 2+ Dogs
I, thankfully, haven't had to experience this either, but my guess would be stress. Besides the dogs own sense of loss, he's probably sensing the rest of the family's grief. That's probably too overwhelming for him.
Sorry for your friend.
I have pretty young dogs, but I imagine they will be devastated if they lost their buddy. As it is, my younger dog cries and paces if she is left at home and I leave with his big sister. My new neighbor has a 14 year old Italian greyhound who had a buddy until 2 years ago. The surviving dog hasn't barked or made a sound since he lost his brother. She has taken him to the vet, and there is nothing wrong, but they think it's just his way of grieving. I'm imagine every dog grieves the lost of their sibling in their own way, as well are sensing your grief and loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss
