lunch in Galveston

I'm taking the girls to Galveston (by myself) next week, where should we go for lunch?

Re: lunch in Galveston

  • Mosquito cafe

Rainforest cafe if they like the animatronic zoo friends

    The Spot

We love cafe michaelburger, but it's not in the strand/sea wall area, it's further down west.

  • We always go to Mosquito Cafe, sooo yummy!

    Ditto.

  • Mosquito Cafe is so yummy.

Smooth Tony's has some limited hours (they're not open on the weekends) but have good smoothies and pulled pork sandwiches.

Simps if you want comfort food.

  • Another rec for the Mosquito Cafe and The Spot.  The Spot is right on the seawall.  You could just skip lunch and go straight for ice cream sundaes at LA King's on the strand.  Stick out tongue

  • Yep, yep...Mosquito Cafe...yum!
  • Mosquito Cafe is a good suggestion, but I believe they are closed on Monday's.  Sunflower Bakery is a few minutes away from Mosquito Cafe on the same street and that is also good but can get crowded around lunch time.  Get there right at 11 if possible to beat the rush.

If both girls have not yet experienced animatronics, do NOT attempt this by yourself. Because our trip to the Rainforest cafe was a bit... traumatic. For all of us. And probably for everyone in the restaurant. She stopped screaming after the first time they came to life and just whimpered and hid instead. She was almost 3 at the time.

    The former jen5/03.

  • I know we already chatted about this Kat, but I actually wouldn't recommend Mosquito Cafe for you in this situation. It's much more of a sit-down resturant (though you do order at the counter)...and isn't necessarily ideal for a lunch alone with 2 little kiddos. It's a great place, and I wouldn't say it's not kid-friendly, but it's definitely better suited for an adult crowd.
