Before I left last week for my trip, I saw several posts asking about Taos or Santa Fe so I thought I post a quick blurb about my trip. We went to Taos to ski/snowboard. I also posted up reviews on restaurants and sites on TripAdvisor. Also, if anyone is interested in pictures, just PM me.
DH and I flew to Alburquerque and drove to Taos. Along the way we stopped at Santa Fe for food and met up with MIL. We really wanted New Mexican cuisine so went to the Horseman Haven's Cafe. Amazing food, and that green chiles level 2 - SUPER spicy!
We rented an apartment from VRBO around Taos Ski Valley so we really only went out to eat a handful of times. (BTW, the skiing there is awesome - no crowds and the mountain has a lot of challenging trails!) We ate at the Bavarian (good, but overpriced as expected) at the resort, and in Taos, we ate at La Cueva (excellent Mexican food). On our off-ski day, we went to the Rio Grande Gorge and hiked along the path for an hour or two - beautiful! We also went to Taos Pueblo but I thought it was a bit pricey. Finally we did the Enchanted Circle drive - took about 2 hours but gorgeous scenery.
I loved my first trip to NM and hope to go back to explore more!
