  • god she comes off as so smug and "know-it-all".

emotional stages as opposed to dilation?? sounds like a nut to me.

good luck to her, if it works for her great. but im skeptical that any of this will work out the way shes planned.

  • She almost sounds like a scientology birth... aren't scientology women supposed to be quiet during birth and their husband's are the only ones to communicate?

  • She must be from the Nest with her disclaimer - "this is what I want, this is what I'm putting out there on a public  forum, but I don't want to hear what you have to say unless you agree with me."

That said - it wasn't as nutty as her other stuff led me to expect.

  • Hmmm...it isn't that bad. Teh whole cervical check thing does sound a bit smug but she always sounds smug,  I thought it would be full of crazy demands.   I know she is using hypnobabies so most of what she says actually does make sense.  Like not asking her if she wants an epi and letting her request it if she feels she needs it.

However, I honestly don't think it's going to work for her.   She mentioned getting a cervical check at her 40 week appt and that it was "interesting" to get a chance to use her hypnosis techniques during that.   If she had to use that to get through the under 1 minute minor discomfort of a cervical check, there is no way she going to be able to use it to get through labor.

  • During the pushing stage, I would appreciate warm moist compresses and perineal massage to reduce risk of tearing.
It?d be really cool if doc remembers to do that. Otherwise hopefully hubby will be in a gathered enough state to remind him.

This is my favorite part...i cant imagine any of the nurses working w/her being her b!tch like that...

  • Since this is my first time stalking this girl I was wondering a couple of things??

Will she have any clue if they wait two minutes to clamp the cord or will she be focusing on pushing the placenta out??

    Why no baths?

Why is her husband the only one who will clean the baby off??

I was thinking the same thing! She is a nut, can you blame this kid for not wanting to come out? I'm going to LMAO when NONE of this goes according to her plan!

and why can't they bathe the kid? Does she have any idea how gross and nasty babies are when they come out?

  • She should be prepared for anything and I don't think she is. Everything she didn't want I had.
  • imageLizDP:

Probably after going through 24 hours of excruiating labor with no "easily digestible food such as fruit". She'll be weak, tired and screaming for them to take the kid out. I haven't even picked up my Nook tonight I've been enjoying this so much.

i think i remember reading somewhere that the vernix (sp?) babies are covered in is antibacterial, it's really good at protecting against infections. it's not that they can't be cleaned up- just not washed with soap and water. with both my kids, they rubbed them down with blankets, and then they had baths their 2nd day. i didn't request or want anything special- that's just how they do it.

  • She is so having a c and it so going to a be a boy.  Whaat why would she want to clean the baby off?  Um does she know all the goop that is on the baby.

  • It this her first birth?  I have no idea who she is, never followed her.

I totally disagree on the fetal monitoring.  what if somethign happens during hte 20 min off???

And I jsut read the baby plan.  Is she fukking serious?  wouldn't you want the baby checked out immediately??  what if there is fluid in the lungs..wouldn't you want a professional taking care of that part?    These people do this EVERY DAY  they know wha tthey are doing.

  • Yeah the fetal monitoring was a little weird. Heart beats can drop or increase so fast.  If she didn't have the monitor on her, how would she know if the baby was in distress??

  • my BF didn't have a monitor on through her whole labor, she was in a hot tub. it's not really uncommon to not have a monitor on the whole time.

  • This one makes no sense to me, and is actually a little scary.

Please allow us time to get to know our baby and breastfeed (1-2 hours) before any newborn procedures.

I can't imagine a hospital agreeing to this. What if something is wrong with the baby? They would be risking a lawsuit.  And I have always been told that babies are not hungry when they are first born.

  • Dont you think its odd that she is posting all these really important and informative posts after 40 weeks? I don't know, she thought she was giving birth at 38 weeks, why save all the good stuff for when you should be giving birth and posting about that? seems kind of weird to me......not like the whole thing is normal but I wonder why?

M was just cleaned and vitals checked etc before I was given an hour to two to nurse. Everything else waited. And that was the standard procedure at the hospital. S would have been the same if not for the *** his lungs.

    This girl

Is crazy but most of her birth plan is not that weird.

Well having her hubby clean the baby is odd. As is providing your own baby blankets but I was expecting much crazier.

  • I wonder why she is having this baby in a hospital with an OB when she really seems to prefer to control everything herself. Why not just have a home birth or use midwives?

I am also surprised that they are not taking home the placenta to eat it, bury it in the garden, make some nifty knick-knacks, take some selfies of the placenta jumping....or all of the above.

I would love to be a fly on the wall of the nurses station......

Me too!  What I don't get-- if she wants such a natural experience, why not go with a midwife and a home birth, or at least a birthing center?  I think they'd be more open to her ideas.

I'd bet that even my crunchy doula/ midwife type friends would find some of the other stuff on her blog nutso, though!

I didn't have the monitor on w/ my second either. This is the least odd thing here..lol
