Let me ask all of you this one....

"If you can ask anybody to dinner, living or dead, who would you choose and why?"

I got this one at a job interview last week.

Curious to see your responses.;) Tia!

Re: Let me ask all of you this one....

  • Steve Jobs - because I own a business and would love the chance to talk to him and get his advice in person.

  • My paternal grandfather. He is the one who chose for our family to immigrate to America, and I never had the chance to meet him. I would love to here why he chose to came to America, and if he thought that our family was doing him proud.
  • If you were a friend...it would be my paternal grandmother.  She passed away two years, and I really miss her.  There is so much that I want to talk to her about and tell her.  She was very smart about a lot of things and was never judgemental no matter what the problem was.  I'd love to know her thoughts on a lot of what has happened in the past two years.

If you were my potential new boss...it would be Eleanor Roosevelt.  She was a very strong woman, and I would be very interested in her advice and insight.

My dad, probably. He died when I was 11 so I didn't know him very well, and certainly not like an adult.

If not him, then Ludwig van Beethoven.

  • My grandfather. He always had the most amazing insight and advice.
  • Bono.  I'm a big fan of his music and beliefs and I think he would be charming with great stories.
  • a student i was very close to committed suicide two months after graduating from high school.  she asked me and a few of her good friends to dinner the sunday before the friday that this happened, so i was lucky that i got to see her one last time right before she died.  i had a very, very hard time recovering from this loss.  it has altered my life in many ways, one of which has been wondering how on earth i could have missed the signs leading up to her eventual decision.  i have struggled with wanting to know why she chose to end her life.  if i had the chance to see her again, as well as to talk to her and find out why, i feel like that scar could more fully heal.

but i feel like i would have many different responses to this one, depending on the people to whom i was responding.  i'm not sure i would respond with this in a job interview.  although maybe i would.

all of this. What a stupid question for a job interview. having said that I would have lunch with my mom--was in my early 20s when she died and there are soooo many things I'd love to ask her today.

    Especially the bolded!

But I'd probably say my mom.  While I was 36 when she died, it was before I had DS.  Now that I am a mom - there are SO many questions I have for her.

Of coruse, in a job interview, I don't think that would be a great answer.  But it would be honest....

  • In a job interview, i don't know.

In real life, my uncle.  He died at age 50 after a really nasty battle with cancer.  I would love to talk to him again, and tell him about his daughter (she is only 11).

  • For the record, I chose Andy Warhol.

I am a cartoonist and I recently had an exhibit. As part of the exhibit, I chose 6 quotes from famous people -- a cartoon accompanied each qoute; a quote from Mr. Warhol was one of them.

I did a lot of research about Mr. Warhol. He was quite the character, sharp as a whip and funny...  Did you know he was a devout Byzantine Catholic and went to Mass every day?
  • I think this is an odd question for an interview--unless they tend to tell fit?

I would like to meet Condeleeza Rice.
