Pediatrician Interview

Did you interview your pediatrician when you were pregnant?  If so, what type of ?s did you ask?

No, I went on a recommendation from a couple other parents I knew and checked out their website and hours. Late hours and weekend hours were impt, plus I liked they had separate entrances and waiting rooms for Sick and Well visits. I'd ask about cancellations (if there is a charge), what their vaccine schedule is (up here in MA, it's a little diff then NJ), their hours, etc. You can prob find all this info on their website though. GL.

I did the same thing as Franco....went on recommendation from someone I knew who used the same practice.  However little did I know that the pediatrician was pretty awful and I learned that pretty fast.  The person who rec'd them to me had older children and didn't need to go as frequently so she sort of "put up with it".  I ended up switching anyway.  Not that getting recs from people is wrong but not everyone has the same experience all the time.  I have found that most peds don't even bother scheduling interviews (probably because it's less time to see patients and actually make money).

I originally went off the recc of a friend and did a phone interview with the doctor, but wound up using the ped who saw my son in the hospital. Ilike her a lot and saw her in action before  was actually her patient, which helped, but it was an unusual situation I guess.

i had a few recs from here, plus i asked my ob who he worked with, liked, etc...i called for an appt with the recs from here, and none of them did that, i met with my ob's rec, really liked her, liked her approach to supporting bfing, liked how they spread the vaccines...that they had good hours for me, and just who she was...it worked well!
