Anyone go on vacation without their LO?

Thinking of a weekend trip for our anniversary but not sure if I can leave LO for a whole weekend.  Maybe we'll bring her.  I know I'll have to decide myself just looking for others experiences if they did.  TIA

  • We're going to California for my best friend's wedding in June - she will be 7 months then and she's going to stay with grandparents - my parents for 2 nights and Matt's mom for 2 nights. I wouldn't be able to leave her now, but by then she'll be old enough and I won't be BFing anymore.

  • Not when she was a baby but when she was 2 my husband took me on a 5 year anniversary trip to Croatia for a week and my inlaws came here and stayed with her.  I was a mess before we went but it turned out fine and it was a great experience for us.  I am not sure i would go that far away again without them but for a weekend without a doubt!!  Go and enjoy!

  • For anniversary yes.  We went for 1 night (Mh wouldn't go for 2) to the Poconos.  We decided to this every year and MH agreed to 2 nights.  it is something to look forward to!

  • we went away for our anniversary...m was 10 months...we went down to cape may...drove down friday morning, stayed friday and saturday, and drove home sunday after breakfast (home before noon)...it was nice to be away, but i will be honest, i missed her...my parents stayed with her at our house, and she was fine...
  • My older son was 9 months old and we went away for 5 days.  He stayed with my parents.  We've gone away a number of times without him.  We've gone away for hockey tournaments with my older one and left the little one with grandparents. I miss my kids, but not enough to not get away.

  • I will be this summer for 5 nights and 6 days.  Very much looking forward to it, but not sure how I'd feel if they were younger.

  • Right before our wedding, we went on a "pre-honeymoon" since we were actually bringing him on our real honeymoon.  We went to Mexico for 4 nights 5 days - he was a year and 3 months at the time.  I honestly missed him more than anything when i would see other families with kids in the pool, but at the same time, I knew that if he was there, we wouldn't have been able to let loose, drink as much as we did, hop in a cab whenever we wanted to, etc etc etc.  I'm glad we left him home, looking back.

  • When she was 2 we left her for two nights.  We had a nice time but I missed her so much, I did not tell MH though.  We then talked about it afterwards and it turns out he missed her just as much! LOL Now with two kids, I just do not think I can do it again.
  • Since my older one was about 4 month old we left her for random nights at my parents.  This past summer we went away for the first time for more than just one night and it was glorious!  My older one was almost 3 and my younger one was about 15 months, my parents stayed at my house with them and it was perfect, 3 nights, 4 days.  I am already looking forward to going away next summer again when the kids are 5, 3 and 1.

  • We've done lots of local weekends away and then a few longer trips; 4 nights in Bermuda when Sabrina was about 8 months old and 4 nights to Bermuda when she was 2 years old.   Last year we went to San Francisco for 5 nights to go to a wedding and in April we're going for 3 nights to Costa Rica.   Every time we've gone away the girls have been with either my parents or my SIL and it's been totally fine.

  • Every September we go to Wildwood for the firemen's convention.  First time we left our 3 year old to go he was 6 weeks old. Since then, we've gone to Aruba for 8 days ( oldest 1yr), Vegas (boys 3 & 1), and we do 2-3 trips to AC for overnights.

We have family very willing to watch kids and we re firm believers in needing time to ourselves. It's healthy for our relationship and healthy for boys to see us focusing on our marriage and not just them all the time.
