**Shorty** - Disneyland related
I saw in my Palm Springs post that you guys are planning a 1 day trip to Disney. When you have some time would you mind giving me a quick run-down of what you plan to do? I am not really familiar at all and am feeling a bit overwhelmed and would like to have a game plan so we can see and do as much as possible
**anyone else - please feel free to chime in what your must do things are for Disneyland

Re: **Shorty** - Disneyland related
Disneyland... as in California?
How long are you going... I can't remember if you posted earlier and I already chimed in. Are you going to both parks... staying near the park, doing other things in Cali?
I might be in Beaumont the weekend of the 18-19... you up for some Nestie time? Beaumont is like 30 minutes from Palm Springs....
Anyway, one day to spend at Disneyland... hmmm, get tickets for World of Color for sure (Disneyland California nighttime water show). The Aladdin show is also good at California as is Fantasmic at Disneyland. They have all the regular rides like Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, etc. Downtown Disney is right outside Disneyland. It's fun, but not all that. Probably not worth much to spend too much time there. In terms of food, there are a couple of good restaurants in Downtown Disney and in the parks... the Mexican food place in Disneyland... yummy soup bowls over at California... ohhh, if you want to go a little nicer, get reservations NOW at the Blue Bayou in Disneyland or I know California has a couple of nice places, some Italian place but I haven't eaten there.
If you have one day, make sure you plan out your fast passes, too. You can get a fast pass, about one every hour or two... go right away in the morning and get a fast past, then hit a ride. On your fast pass, it says when you can get the next fast past. Fast pass musts (i.e. long lines: Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain - only if it's warm enough, you'll get wet, Buzz Lightyear - yes one of my favorites!, Screamer and Soarin at California).
GO ON SOARING in California... one of the coolest experiences BUT get a fast pass if you guys are going on a weekend.
If you're into wine the Italian place at California has a wine tratorria place. I haven't been... don't drink obviously... but it looks nice.
The House of Blues is in Downtown disney right outside of the parks... very cool.
Hmmm... what else are you doing in Southern Cali... gonna stay in Palm Springs most of the time? If we have snow in the mountains by then, going up to Big Bear or Arrowhead is BEAUTIFUL... even if it's not snowing, it's still super pretty. Lake Arrowhead is nice in every season.
What else are you planning to do?
I'd suggest hitting California first, for a few hours... get a fast pass for Soarin and then hit up Screamer and the Hotel one (I can't remember what it's called but it's in the back of the park). When you're done with those three and walk around for a bit, go over to Disneyland for the rest of the day. Hit up Toon Town before dark (they close it after dark to launch fireworks - DON'T miss the fireworks show... it's super crowded but watch it from the center circle between the end of Main St and the castle... so awesome. Anyway, when you get to Disneyland, get a fast pass for Space Mountain and then go on Buzz Lightyear and Star Tours, maybe catch Captain Eo and then mosey over to Adventureland, get a fast pass for Indiana, go on Haunted Mansion and Splash Mtn (if you wanna get wet), then wrap around to Frontierland. If you feel like being a bunch of kids, grab a ferry to Tom Sawyer Island and go explore caves, wood bridges, etc... kinda fun.
Swing around from Frontierland to Fantasyland if you want to go on some of the kid rides. Peter Pan is pretty cool... go up into the castle for a moment, it's kind of cool to see once or twice. Toon Town is cool. Do this, when you see door handles or prison bars or random things, pull on them, twist them, etc... some of them make noises (oh and if you pull on the rope in Indiana Jones, he yells at you, lol). Thunder Mountain is fun, the teacups... you'll have fun. You wont be able to do EVERYthing but it's okay, you can get the gist.
MUST DO: Soarin and World of Color... seriously... do it (get fast passes or reserve ahead World of Color tickets).
Have fun and again, lemme know if you wanna get together on one of the weekends. My best friends live a half hr from Beaumont... I could come out and stay the wknd with them (esp the 17-20 - 3 day wknd).
PS I think there's a tram that goes from the Palm Springs area up the mountain... haven't done it but imagine it's pretty. It's gonna be awfully chilly that far into the desert... esp at night.
Okay, that was long... I'll stop now... hehe
We are going on Thursday, so I will update you after with how it worked out. I haven't been since I was a small child, but we just did Disneyworld last year so neither of us are concerned with doing everything.
We are purposely doing a weekday so it won't be as crowded, and we plan to drive from San Diego and be there when the parking garages open (an hour before the park does). We are getting a park hopper, and we will likely only do the big kid rides, and then if we have our fill of that hit up other stuff. We are probably starting in California Adventure and then will end in Disneyland.
This is the way to do it. Do the really big rides earlier on in the day in the morning (roller coasters, Soarin, etc). Use your fast passes. Going on a Thurs is perfect... Tues-Thur are the best days... esp Tues/Wed
Awesome! Thanks so much.
As for a GTG....I can't make any promises. I think the IL's have a pretty packed agenda for us so it would be tough. Sorry!
