Hi all,
I'm starting a temp job on Wednesday and am contemplating crating my dogs together. One is 3yrs old and the other is about 7 months. They get along great, play, etc together. We've crated them together for small errand runs and they were fine. My concern is giving them treat toys/kongs. They've never snapped or been possessive/guarding of their toys before, and I've seen them exchange treat toys when playing in the living room. Is crating them together with treat toys a dangerous situation, setting them up for resource guarding issues?
My older dog is really good with the puppy and mothers him/plays well with him, even when he's jumping around and nipping at her arms, etc. I have no current fears of them together, I just don't want to set up a failure situation but thought crating them together might help ease them (and the puppy) into a new schedule of me being gone all day, after being home for months (and all of the time we've had him). I'll be able to come home at lunch and check on them/let them out.
Thanks for any advice!
Re: If you crate two dogs together
I would not crate them together. That is really setting them up for failure, especially with you not being home. They may have done well so far, but it is not worth the risk.
They will adjust, it just may take them a bit of time.
