or "Number B" as I like to call it, because that is funny:
I got some inside scoop on a job in another dept that I didn't end up getting, or even getting an interview for, after they had been calling about me. It turns out that I was "very qualified" but they felt that I had a good job already and didn't need a different one, so they passed me over.
How the hell can I fight that kind of thinking?
Shouldn't it be my choice if my job is a good fit for me? And even if they think I have a great job, how can it not occur to someone that a person might want to move up and, along with that added responsibility, make more money?
Now I have groups of hiring supervisors sitting around deciding when I have gone high enough in my career path?
WTF!?
Re: Annnnnd the 2nd thing
You wouldn't have applied for the job unless you felt you wanted a "better job" right?
I recently had a friend apply for a director position at a local educational institution, as he has been with said instititution in the same department and basically knows all the ins and outs of what they do. He didn't get selected, and one of the board members who reviewed the applicants even told him that it would be a good position for him in the future. What?!
Basically he wasn't "old" enough to be a director.
That kind of thinking is messed up!
