Nice Restaurant in N. Metro
Hi Ladies! My mom is turning 50 in March and we'd like to take her out to dinner. We'd like some where nice, but we have DD so it has to be some place where kids are welcome (Grandma would NOT be happy if we left Little Butt at home). My mom is SUPER picky, so she won't eat anything more ethnic than Olive Garden. She probably won't want to drive more than 30 min away. We live near Blaine, so I'm thinking that Minneapolis is as far south as she'll go and Maple Grove is about as far north as she'll go. Does anybody have any suggestions? This one has me stumped. We usually just go to Applebees or Perkins since we know that she'll eat there, but I think that 50 deserves something a bit bigger. TIA!

The Tavern: http://www.thetaverngrill.com/ in Blaine is very nice and has good food. They can get busy on the weekend so you might want to give them a call and ask about calling ahead the day of. The have unofficial call-ahead seating.
Red Oak is closed...or at least it was the last time we went there and not like just closed for the night there was no furniture in it and it had a "For Lease" sign in the window.
Axel's would be good in Blaine, or even Green Mill.
If she wanted to go a little more east there is Blue Heron in Hugo and they are very good, and kid friendly as well.
